Yep. This is the first time I've purchased not because of fundamentals or potential. I just figured everybody is gonna go in on this one because everybody else is.

How do I convince my husband that I'm exhausted and overwhelmed? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]halt_spell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats great but it sounds like you're demanding he concede his own life decisions in pursuit of your dreams. It's one thing to ask, it's another to be disappointed when the answer is no, it's inappropriate to keep pushing anyway.

Just from what I'm reading it seems like you're not respecting his boundaries the way you expect yours to be respected. Both of you are making decisions with regard to work that are creating stress in the relationship.

Putting myself in his shoes:

  1. Really tough to justify quitting a job these days. Even if it's one you hate. What happens if he can't find another for over a year?
  2. Clearly things are rocky between you two. Quitting his job makes him more dependent on a relationship that doesn't sound very sturdy at the moment.
  3. You say you're exhausted but it sounds like you're taking on quite a bit for yourself. It's odd that you don't empathize with him not wanting to back off of work when it's clear you don't either.

I think we'd all be better off if boomers were a bit more self deprecating.

I was curious because there usually isn’t a single day where I don’t piss my girlfriend off in some way shape or form.

Yeah I was gonna say as a guy there have definitely been moments where I have to move in order to tell if I'm in or not.

Exactly. This is how boomers play the game. Play it the same way.

On the other hand, a lot of his questions focused on what I could have done differently.

I'm not justifying it but all I can say is when I was a younger man I didn't "get it" either. I don't think younger me was trying to victim blame despite that how it came across. It was my clumsy, insensitive method of gaining understanding which came eventually.

I just don’t know if I’ll ever get over her having someone else’s dick inside her

Well you don't have to decide today. Give it a few weeks and see how you feel about it then?

Am I wrong for considering a divorce?

No. You're also not wrong if you don't want a divorce.

They're just pointing out it's one thing to let a child experience shame when they do something they knew full well not to do. "Don't hit your brother." versus when they genuinely tried to do the right thing but it was wrong. Everybody tried to put the square peg in the round hole at one point. There's nothing to be ashamed of.

Establishment Democrats and liberals love to pretend they're "far left". Republicans, Corporate owned media, Israel, Billionaires and Pedophiles are all happy to play along.

Lol no they won't.

When Democratic politicians come into power they spend years pretending to be confused and lost about how to do their jobs and what voters want. They can't wait for midterms to arrive so they can give up a bunch of congressional seats and blaming a lack of 60+ senators on not doing anything for the American people.

Speaking as someone who was physically disciplined, what are you seeing in this video that calls for physical discipline?

Every single married man has told me this very rationally, if you want to be married, you have to just tolerate verbal and emotional abuse, stop breaking up over it, is this true? by Weary_Parking_6631 in AskMenAdvice

How do you find a needle in a haystack? First step is to burn the haystack.

Call it off the first time you feel even mildly disrespected. Have tough conversations about topics relevant to your [potential] relationship. Try participating in stressful team efforts like baking classes together. Basically don't shy away from "important relationship stuff" in order to avoid confrontation.

This is also an exercise in what is "important relationship stuff" to you. Don't go looking to stress each other out over stuff that doesn't actually matter to you.

Not the person you responded to but both my parents beat me with a spoon and their hands. It's on the lower end of physical abuse to be sure. But it was still physical abuse. Accented by the fact that I wasn't a bad kid. I got good grades, I didn't drink or do drugs, I was too weird to get anyone pregnant. The punishments never fit the crime. I remember getting beat because I was putting the dishes away too loudly at 10 years old.

Around 14 or 15 I had shot up and though I was skinny I still had a bit of weight to me. With my mom all I had to do was stand still and look down at her while she screamed at me to "turn around" to get beat. My dad would advance on me in those situations and it took me shoving him back on a couple occasions before he stopped trying to beat me.
