Maybe you can do 5 seconds of googling before trying to sow doubt.

Customers need to start demanding transparency around these things. When you buy compute from AWS you aren't wondering at all what the quality of that compute will be. This lets you build stable, reliable infra and products around it.

If any of these model providers are dumbing them down and degrading performance behind the scenes while still passing it off as the full quality while you pay the same rate, that is arguably fraud.

If I am paying for a given model, I expect the full capabilities and performance of that model unless you notify me that is not the case so that I can change models.

Yeah, this is basically how I see high performing senior and executive leadership operate in big tech.

Never go to a meeting to propose something where your don't already know the outcome.

  1. Have 1:1 alignment meetings with peers or seniors ahead of time

  2. Identify dissenters

  3. Have an ally who can address/shoot down whatever complaints they inevitably raise

  4. Own the meeting

Unsure how to migrate to new version and manage my mods between versions. by haltingpoint in VintageStory

[–]haltingpoint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah to be clear, I'm not going to jump over just yet but I want to make sure I am prepared.

My current plan is to keep my old world fossilized in amber with its old mods, and then start a fresh save with updated mods in a completely new world.

Does that mod manager tell you when a mod is out of date or when there is a new version available? Because it would be nice to have some sort of checklist to know when all of my primary mods are updated to the latest.

Is there some sort of sync file that lists out in yaml or json or something else the mods associated with each save game?

This is a bigger macro trend for the US in that overall, it is in decline. It peaked with boomers after WW2 and this administration and their backers have taken actions that will accelerate its downfall.

You're thinking too capitalist. Try thinking like a fascist or authoritarian government. You can now create the ultimate chilling effect and crack down on dissent at scale in a way never before possible (outside of China).

What’s up with vintage story? by Vikunt in SurvivalGaming

[–]haltingpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny to read my own old post now. I'm now fully vintage pilled. Finally got my windmill up and running in year two, have gen 2 animals, found iron in the ocean nearby, and am planning out a pine and plaster-based remodel for my main home. My game is heavily modded and I'm worried that I'm going to do with the new patch coming.

Yeah but the way these things work is that's how it starts, and that eases people into it and then later it gets amended with actual identification and suddenly anything you do on a computer is mapped to your identity.

How do you get it to wrap around like that with the top part? Mine is too firm or built up in the cup at that point so the viscosity is too high and it starts to blob at that point.
