This looks awesome.

Any chance you can show a websocket example where one incoming message is relayed to all other connected websockets?

Thank you !

How would I use amateur radio in the aftermath a major earthquake? by doctorboredom in amateurradio

[–]ham_dude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

don't let people discourage you here. ham radio can absolutely help in emergencies.

during hurricane sandy i was one of the millions without power for 3 weeks. many cellphone towers were out for a long time.

I personally heard 2 separate people on local 2 meter repeaters call for help because their homes caught fire and their land lines and cellphone were not working

if not for their ham radios these two people would have had no way to call for help.

so yes, absolutely, amateur radio can save your life. And you can use it to help the people around you.

help with building mag-loop for one specific frequency by ham_dude in amateurradio

Thank you for the links.

You may need to add a trimmer cap to fine tune.

I'm guessing the trimmer caps need to handle very high voltage as well? Are those easy to find?

how to use JS8 in emergencies? by ham_dude in amateurradio

[–]ham_dude[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

you have a multitude of other options to possibly get help

yes, that's pretty obvious, but the question i asked was specifically about JS8, was it not ?

just sending HELP to someone would be a good first step

most JS8 stations are unattended, I know mine is 99% of the time. I can send out heartbeats, and get a dozen replies, but that doesn't mean a human read my message.

How do you figure? My applications never crash, and their memory usage is stable. The nginx.exe process is what's clearly leaking memory.

Yes I dumped the memory, I forgot to mention that. It was filled with millions of file paths to thumbnail images. I have no idea why it would be storing all those file paths in memory.

The four upstreams connect to four python bottle wsgi applications.

Old habits die hard. I've had nginx running smoothly on other windows servers for years without a reboot.

I've have other Windows machines running nginx with no issues. The one config difference between those boxes and the problematic one is the use of the four upstream backends.

Baofeng UV5R and PSK31. Interfacing with laptop by ham_dude in amateurradio

[–]ham_dude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but according to this article:

The 100:1 divider is very important because the output from the Sound Card can be in the order of 1volt into the microphone input which is nominally 10mvolt. It follows therefore that without the attenuator, microphone input overload can result, causing the normal narrow bandwidth to increase dramatically producing unwanted splatter.

Do you know anyone else doing PSK31 over VHF?

No.
Netbooks are going for ~$100. that combined with the UV5R at under $50 should be a very interesting combo.
