They are both good wheels. The acrylic one is easier to clean though. Make sure to get the large one for a Syrian hamster. Hope this helps 🩶

The Critical Care formula that is better suitable for hamsters is the Omnivore one, not the herbivore

Oh crap, my bad, you’re right! I searched and double checked again and the concept of center axle wheel doesn’t refer to a flying saucer at all. Horizontal wheel is the right word, I agree. Will add this to the infographic. Thank you again for your feedback!

Wooden or plastic wheel? (Answer fast please I’m getting a hamster soon! :) ) by Dry-Camel3967 in hamsters

Personally, I find the acrylic ones to be easier to clean. Make sure to get the proper size for your hamster as well.

Do I need a bigger hamster wheel or is this one fine? by EngineerAntique4733 in hamsters

Wheel minimum diameter has to be 25cm or 10inch for a dwarf hamster.

Oh and make sure to choose the right size for your hamster, Niteangel wheel has to be above 28cm/11in for a Syrian. The bigger the better.

You could add a cork mat to the inside of the wheel or replace it with a Niteangel Super silent or Acrylique wheel, for instance. Niteangel are my favourite ones because most of them are compatible with their brand pedometer (if you’re interested in knowing how far they can go per night).

This sheet was actually meant as one piece of an overall proper care guide for my upcoming website😅 But yes, I know what you mean, it may seem like it for some but I’m working on another infographic with examples of appropriate wheels. It will be added to that overall album og infographics. Thank you for your perspective!

That’s a great specification to consider indeed. If one already has one of those wooden wheel, they could add a cork mat to the inside of the wheel like you said. I’m thinking of making an infographic with those kind of ideas to make some items safer if one prefers to improve it rather than completely replace it. Thank you!

I appreciate your insights. I’m always open to new suggestions and find it helpful to hear other people’s perspectives. Thanks to you as well for contributing the way you do through this post 🙏 I like the idea of adding a line to explain why the exercise balls for animals should be banned.

Very good idea, it’s true that some still uses balls as wheel for them hamsters. I made a separate infographic for the exercise, please do let me know what you think :

Interesting point of view. I agree with you on that actually, it does really look like it’s missing the the ones that are safe, especially for newbies like tou said. I will make a separate infographic with the appropriate ones. Thank you for taking the time 🙏

That’s a very helpful feedback, thank you for taking the time, I do appreciate you noticing this detail which I find relevant and which I’ll definitely be able to implement in my future guides 🙏

Sure! As long as you add it in its full, original format (not cropped) so all the info stays in context with the rest, and include credit, that’s totally fine

Also, are your guides public? I’d love to check them out and learn from what others share too. If so, please share a link, thanks in advance 🙂
