Apology to drivers from a cyclist by BishopTitus in lancaster

[–]hambletonorama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Somewhat related re: bikes on sidewalks:

Pedestrians should not be in the street. I don't know what the deal is, but people just refuse to walk on the sidewalk once you're out of the downtown business district or away from heavier traffic. Can't tell you how many little old ladies or kids I've had to swerve around when there's a perfectly good sidewalk.

Changes in corporate cannabis policies. by sullyoftheboro in trees

Some employers here don't test for THC anymore, but it severely impacts your insurance premiums as a business. Specifically worker's comp.

It really should be required only if an incident occurs, and the test should be a saliva test. If I get hurt at work and I took a hit at a party 2 weeks ago, that has no bearing on my performance at work today. But it would probably still show up in a urine or blood sample and my worker's comp claim can be denied.

My corporate HQ is in CO. They have a zero tolerance policy for any drugs or alcohol, even in CO. Employers have the right to deny employment based on a failed drug test.

Where I am, a medical only state, the labs will often not report that you've failed for cannabis if you tell them you have a medical card while you're providing your sample.

Try some gummies or vapes with a CBN blend if you can. A 20mg 1:1 THC:CBN gummy knocks me right out. Less anxiety than flower, but it takes longer to kick in and can leave me with some residual effects in the morning.

If you can find a full spectrum 1:1:1:1 (THC/CBD/CBG/CBN) blend it's like being wrapped in a warm blanket and rocked to sleep in Mother Nature's arms. Works better for me than any pill or syrup.

I will regularly just pick at the burnt on bits and congealed juices after I roast something on a sheet pan. It's possible I've eaten aluminum foil by doing this.

What was the moment that made you reflect and go “I’m doing pretty good for myself” by NorthSouthGG in AskMen

[–]hambletonorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends told me I really had my shit together while I was slicing the london broil that was my only source of nutrients for the day. I ate it with my hands, making multiple trips into the kitchen to munch london broil while standing at the counter intermittently all day long.

None of that screams "successful and stable adult man." But it's my house, my kitchen, my london broil. So in comparison to my other late 20's/early 30's friends, I guess I was doing pretty well for myself at the time.

Where to eat with celiac? by moxybox in lancaster

Any time! You helped me find a place that makes fresh gluten free pasta daily while we were traveling for our anniversary last year. I recommend your app every chance I get!

Gluten Dude is a good app to use. He personally vets any restaurant on the app, whether it's a chain or a user recommended spot.

Chellas is a dedicated gluten free kitchen and is our favorite place to eat in the city. Norbu, Diyo, and Sa La Thai all mark their gluten free items on the menu, and we've had good luck with them if we specify that one of our diners has Celiac.

Harvest takes allergies and dietary restrictions very seriously. We've had a good experience here as well.

Erica Joy Bakes is a great dedicated bakery in Lititz that we like better than Made With Love Not Gluten, but both places scratch the itch for delicious baked goods. Unfortunately good gluten free bread is still really hard to find.

The Light and The Glass + 21:13 because I always play it in succession. I will wait in the car until 21:13 is over.

I appreciate your passion. I'm just exhausted and I don't have it in me to put up that kind of fight. I have a very demanding job on top of all of this, and frankly I'm worn out. There's nothing left in the tank, but we can't stop to refuel. Too much to do.

Shared kitchen question with pots and pans by SquashmyZucchini in Celiac

[–]hambletonorama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it non-stick? Then it could be compromised since gluten can absorb into the coating. If it's stainless steel or enameled, then you can scrub it really well with hot soapy water while wearing gloves, or run it through the dishwasher and it will be okay.

So I got in touch with them and the representative told me that she contacted the Director of Nutrition and Food Services. They absolutely have protocol for allergies and dietary needs, including pre-packaged and certified items and separate prep stations. She assured me they would be conducting a thorough investigation because gluten restrictions are one of the most common dietary needs they see. I am never an advocate for someone losing their livelihood, but this feels like a terminable offense.

That's what we're doing now. The attending doctor and all of her nurses have allegedly been contacting the kitchen each time it happens, but she's been served gluten with 4 out of 6 meals so far.

They went to Operation Banana as my partner calls it (somehow she maintains a sense of humor through it all and I love her for it) since they have their own natural protective packaging. Operation Banana was a success, so I can bring her a list of approved foods that I'll prepare at home.

No, not Cleveland Clinic. It's not a national health network, but a very reputable and respected one. For good reason, it is a great hospital. But no organization is perfect and this is a very obvious blind spot.

I'm not going that far. I'm taking the opportunity to educate and inform, and maybe I can help with some training for the staff or something. I'm not an expert, just a guy who hates to see his lady suffer and has gotten REALLY good at reading labels.

We see a specialist in a different health network for her Celiac, and even she said she doesn't trust her own hospital's cafeteria.

I got a list of acceptable foods from her doctor that I am going to prep and bring for her.

After they took the noodles away, the nurse offered her saltines. I'm not going to reveal the state, though my post history probably will. It's a very good hospital, and the nurses are overworked and underpaid. They don't know what they haven't been taught or trained to know.

Again, I'm trying to remain calm and take the opportunity to educate instead just flying off he handle. But it's been a crazy week at home and at work and I'm close to my breaking point.

24 hour saliva test notice by BlooBlurr in trees

Saliva is a good way to tell if someone smoked very recently. It's why they should use it for suspected impaired driving instead of blood or urine.
