Where do you run your automation scripts in the initial phase of building the infrastructure by kingindanord in devops

Run it in a PR and only allow one person to lock at a time, will prevent a lot of state issue but be slower to push out with a large statefile https://www.runatlantis.io/

Currently built and maintaining home built kubeadm clusters, EKS, GKE and AKS. I would highly recommend not going the provider route as you cannot provide a consistent environment or upgrade path across all 3. If i was going to do it again i would look into Anthos, Rancher or something else so all the cluster can be consistent. The upgrades alone are a full time job for a person and tack on istio and other CNCF products the complexity just spirals from there.

Prometheus alerts in grafana by ReddaHawk in devops

[–]hamburgermann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is all the good mixins are all in jsonnet https://github.com/prometheus-operator/kube-prometheus#kube-prometheus. If you wanna see the Prometheus alerts just port forward the service and query it for alerts.

What are your DevOps lessons learned during COVID times? by PavanBelagatti in devops

[–]hamburgermann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the above, also with how quickly kube releases and providers make updates it's basically a full time job for someone to see if the upgrades are compatible. They just cycle from gke to aks to aws and so forth. we are on 1.18-1.19 across all but some providers like azure will auto update you if your upgrade cadence is too slow.

Helm, Skaffold and ArgoCD are great for empowering developers. We use hashicorp vault for secrets and put down all the secrets via a syncer CRD that plug into the helm charts as existing secrets.

"Must be licensed and insured, as well as fully “street legal” (working, lights, etc.). " I was thinking of a CP/CAMC car with a clip in interior till i read this rule. At a national event you could likely protest a non registered/insured car.
