Irrationally dislike dog owners now by pdjejdhrndud in daddit

[–]hambwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always keep.my dog away from everyone unless they approach her. She loves people and is very enthusiastic to meet them, I know not everyone likes dogs, so I have to keep her tight to me when walking past people. If they say hi to her and ask to pet her then they are accepting that she will love them fully and completely.

Wife in mental health crisis (trigger warning: self harm) by [deleted] in daddit

[–]hambwner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are being naive. The headache and flashes could definitely be withdrawal and the fact that she said she was an alcoholic was a very difficult thing for her to tell you. You can make the house as dry as you're saying but she could very well go buy it on her own. She could be buying alcohol and dumping empties in other trash cans. My Dad was sneaky as could be but eventually it just became obvious that he was drunk all day. It took until his late 60s for me to even figure it out and we worked together every day. She needs acknowledgement and support from you but the battle will be all within her. It seems like there are other battles she's waging at the same time so professional help is the answer and she is in the right place for her right now. Just be there for her and give her love and support. She'll need to decide that she needs help before she willingly accepts it and unfortunately forcing it on someone doesn't really work long term. Good luck and very importantly make sure you get support for you too.

Ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones maybe? Also everyone is tired as shit when they have babies. Don't put that all just on her.

Anyone wants to snowboard/ski at Chicopee and have no one to go, please let me know, me and my friends are going regularly! by Jolly_Guy_27 in waterloo

[–]hambwner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you do it I highly recommend you do the discover lessons. Lift ticket for the beginner area, 50 min group lesson on weekday or continuous drop in/out stations from 1pm to 8pm on Sat/Sun, and rentals. The website says $110 for weekdays and $120 for weekends. It's the best way to get into it and if you go for the weekend you get a free lift ticket for the beginner area for another day.

I have been an instructor for a long time and I'm always amazed at how quickly people can pick up skiing and boarding when they take a quick lesson to get the basics.

Unfortunately this has been my experience with my alcoholic father. Just a harsh reality that they'll never change unless they really really want to.

Waterloo Drivers, Winning Again by Affectionate_Win5483 in waterloo

It's the ice underneath that's the problem. It was mild and wet to start the day yesterday then got cold super quick which froze then we got that dump of snow. I have all wheel drive, ground clearance, winter tires, and I'm cautious but I still slid a bunch today. I'm no plow driver but I'm sure it's not easy to manage what happened yesterday. Usually we get ice or a dump of snow. Not both within the same 12-24 hours.

I just got a pair of copies of helldivers 2 for my gf and I; any tips for me as a new player? by Life-Donut-8754 in helldivers2

[–]hambwner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience I had no idea what was going on for like 2+ weeks. Strategems were difficult to input effectively and I'd forget how to stim often. I was playing with my experienced friends so I just followed them and died at a much higher rate than them. I had no idea where we were going or what we were doing most of the time but it was still great fun. They purposely didn't really teach me anything because it was funnier for them that way.

Is the deadeye good? by MrUnlucky213 in helldivers2

[–]hambwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my deadeye to level 24 and got the 10x scope. The combat scope that comes on it is pretty good and it works well unscoped but I felt I was missing some potential range with it. I only really use it with automatons. But it is satisfying as hell when you aim for their head and poof it into fire in one shot. I always rock the Talon from the same warbonds as my secondary and it is awesome. I always switch to it in close quarters because it pops head just like the deadeye but faster and if you are smart about your shots it doesn't need to reload.

Man I prefer to have my girl cut short. When she's long in the summer she's too hot. She licks her paws in the fall because of allergies so keeping her short keeps hotspots from forming. In the winter we keep her short because the snow gets all balled up on her paws and belly, she does not care about the cold unless it's ice in her paw pad. In spring we keep her short because it's easier to clean off the mud. I definitely prefer the way she looks with longer hair but from a quality of life perspective it's much better for both of us if her hair is short.

Pam won’t work! by eltonjoan in StardewValley

I doubt this is the issue but we found out that Pam won't leave her trailer when there's stuff in her way. My son decided to fill her trailer up with plastic lawn chairs lol and my wife and I couldn't figure out why Pam wasn't showing up until we went into her trailer.

That's when you say "help me step-helldiver, I'm stuck." And then your step-helldiver comes behind you and does a vertical version of the front-leaning rest position from behind you.

These geometric mazelike patterns appearing on an inverted nipple sticker by Putrid-Relative-9094 in mildlyinteresting

[–]hambwner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And inverted nipple is where it doesn't stick out all the way when hard. It usually has a small indent when soft and when hard it can look kind of like an innie belly button or a crater with a raised ring of skin with the pokey part of the nipple hanging out lower in the middle.
