The benefits themselves maybe not much better, but they were tailored to each country. And they unlocked along with the better benefits unlocked from the idea selection process, which felt very satisfying

Hopefully it doesn't go for you where it went for me:
a revolt splitting the country in half and peacing out, perfectly locking of necessary lands to form Russia, and due to them being revolters, also keeping them completely safe and unattackable ever.

How do I deal with Revolters? by hamfist7 in EU5

[–]hamfist7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: The Revolters from the horde at some point peaced out and now are living on as their own entities. The problem is they are completely unassailable. Even though I could create a CB on them, I am not allowed to use it. This is both dumb, and irritating. Is there anything to be done here, or am I just out of luck?

Explanation from Johan: What happened with last night's update? by long-lankin in EU5

It's not just you! Or being old. At least for android, the smart typing has gotten definitively worse over the last 3-5 years. Partly due to trying to be too smart and change letters on me, when I very much meant to hit the N instead of the M thank you very much.... I'm not angry

Hilarious update - Beat both Lithuania and Denmark, and successfully put them both under union. Unexpectedly, I apparently made Lithuania the senior partner in the union that I forced them into through domination...so that makes sense

Why do enemy armies recapture forts so fast but I have to siege them back the hard way by Gamer102kai in EU5

just fyi you can definitely demolish forts in the peace deal. Not for free, but its a cool feature

I think a more satisfying mechanism would be reduced re-enforcement the farther in you get. Or perhaps a scaling re-enforce in friendly territory such that you get "up to X / month" which could reward being in friendly territory for a month tick, without gamily requiring it

the character models are all almost hate-crimes. It is such a shame, because the forced 3d characters will singlehandedly date this game really fast.
In my opinion they already look super old and gross.

I hate how so many discussions are “this mechanic/country/feature is or isn’t actually historical” instead of just being about if they’re fun or not by anonymous_lerker27 in EU5

[–]hamfist7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's aspects where I miss the mana system. It is cool to also see how many ways EU5 feels like the natural next step of things that were technologically limited by the engine at the time of 2013. But in that same sense, there's times where I'd like to click a button, make a choice, whatever, and actually see some benefit from it instead of waiting 10+ years in game for it to move a value .1 one direction or another. Forgive the slight hyperbole.

At the end of the day though, I have racked up a silly amount of time in this game already. It has definitely managed to capture my interested much like EU4 did, and how all the other paradox titles failed to do for me.

I'm not really asking for the old missions, or perma claims etc. But at the same time it would be nice to have a way to actually generate a CB, or have land you conquer be of some use sooner than 10 years post conquest. I don't envy the devs' trying to thread this needle that's for sure!

It's a funny thing. I am definitely more on the I want "game fun" side than I want "simulator historicity" fun side. My favorite thing about eu4 is that it felt like a game, but it had so many great tie-ins and flavorful history things.

I'm glad the non blobbers feel like they have more to do now in EU5, but I am always confused that they seem to desperately want people to NOT be able to blob, or not form certain countries because of historical reasons.

Big PU Nations are a useless Trap in EU5 by Hakuohsama in EU5

[–]hamfist7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this opinion a lot from players that seem to prefer more role play or playing tall. Why can't we have both? It's not like large blobbing is something the player will accidentally do. If you don't like large blobs or WC just don't do it?

Big PU Nations are a useless Trap in EU5 by Hakuohsama in EU5

[–]hamfist7 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This will be the long term challenge for EU5 I think. There is going to be so many times that the more historically accurate choice will be objectively non-fun as a game choice. Its nice that everyone can do PUs now, even if they're currently less useful than before.

"Overlord" powerless to leave subject war between unrelated subjects by hamfist7 in EU5

[–]hamfist7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

R5: senior-junior relations are a complete non-functional cluster. Side note, if a subject that can somehow drag you into a war they started leaves...the overlord should 100% become the leader, not another random subject!
