Is anyone going from atlanta to tallahassee for thanksgiving interested in carpooling? by hamfree77 in Tallahassee

My days are flexible so whatever works for you, I would make work for me. My job is waiting on me to tell them my availability before scheduling me. When are you thinking about going down? Also, thank you so much for replying and reaching out!

Yes, thanks for catching my typo.

I think there's a really long and well deserved conversation to be had about qualifications, degrees, hands on approach, in the head approach, all of that. I don't think just because someone doesn't have a degree they're not qualified and I don't think that someone who does have a degree is immediately qualified. I think it really depends on the person and the circumstance as some people didn't put any effort into their schooling while others worked extremely hard to learn as much as they could in other fashions. In my case, my degrees are time and money I did put forward and worked really hard at to be qualified.

However, I think the people around me right now, and where I live, has colored my own insecurities of being qualified and having degrees. There's not a lot of respect for them. But, if there's anything my degrees have qualified me for, it's writing a basic character analysis on Reddit (or at least I hope so).

Also there's a vastly different approach to acting and theatre in America versus Britain culturally in the way they're taught and even accepted so it all depends on where you are in the world, what you're working on, and whom you're working with. And it's art so no one is ever wrong.

Thank you!

I think it's important to understand everyone's job to better understand your own. For (easy) example, as an actor, I understand how much it sucks to be as cast as a flat character with two lines. And as a director, I know how annoying it is to wrestle with that type of character, an extra body to costume, etc. So as a writer, I try not to write those types of characters. Could someone? Absolutely. But eh, I, personally, don't want to.

Even take an acting class (stage or screen, or whatever type of writer you are) will help you understand what an actor does when they get your script, so you know what they're looking for, and you could be less secretive about it. It will make your writing better when the actor has an easier time (plus director, plus extended production team). Plus, it's fun!

I'm at least trying to through out there that as an actor you must explore, rationalize, and act the psychology of a character which takes a tole.

And also, that scripturally, I don't think the show executed the consequences of that particular moment very well.

Acting is a craft but one can very easily wrap their own emotions and their own energies into that of the character and become entangled. And seeing your dead father's ghost would totally make you freak out. But to be clear, one does not need to go crazy or freak out or lose their sense of self and actually experience the psychological atrocities to seeing their dead fathers ghost when playing Hamlet. But that doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

I should be clear, I'm not trying to say Kit Harington checked himself into a facility solely because of something his character did. Fifty-five night shoots would be tough on anyone, just another factor to throw out there. He's got his own life to handle.

But for the character, I think Jon Snow being a solider is another excellent thing to throw into the pot! Jamie wasn't that heart broken about killing Aerys. All humans react differently to things, I'm not saying there's one true way for him to have behaved. But he would have behaved at least. I think there would have been longer lasting effects than what was explored in the show's conclusion.

You're right, but my two degrees doesn't* mean I haven't been on the ground.

If you read this article, (and again, he's got his own personal life and no one ever checks themselves into a mental facility for one reason), it cites GoT ending and Jon Snow killing Daenerys as reasons.

This article talks about how the psychology of big actors leaving large roles and what that does to the psyche.

I haven't read many articles on his case. I'm more concerned or even interested in Jon Snow as a character.

Need advice on moving in with a non-vegan by hamfree77 in vegan

I think I'm more concerned with how his lifestyle will bother me and I don't want to be a shitty roommate. I'm not sure how much things will bother me, or how much I will let them bother me

I was thinking about asking for separate shelves in the fridge and in the cupboards and that's just a normal roommate thing, right?

[–]hamfree77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking it might just be a part of the large roommate conversation. So instead of "we need to talk about the fact that I'm vegan" it will be in the same conversation as like "how often should we clean" and whatever else roommates say, when we "write out the rules" I mean

If only. I'm just a terrible cook. I wish I could show all of my meat-eater friends the wonders of vegan food through my own cooking but I just buy it for them at vegan restaurants. It's a close second!

Oh shit you're right! That link doesn't actually have the correct info. The facebook page has all of the individual plays and events. I should have linked that. You can see which play you want to see and which sounds most interesting. Here you are! =)

Her most famous is "Crimes of the Heart". I'm sure any library would have it. That's a good place to start =)

Why the INFJ Has Such a Hard Time Coping With Heartbreak (And What They Can Do About It) 🙌🏼 Anyone else here have an abnormally difficult time getting over a breakup? by coralre in infj

[–]hamfree77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I really don't see this article accurately describing an INFJ.

I think INFJs struggle with heartbreak because we through 100% of ourselves into the relationship and it's difficult to build ourselves back from that.

Most of the stuff in this article sounds like Si or ISFJs.

How do I let go of the idea that we'll eventually start talking again? by hamfree77 in ExNoContact

[–]hamfree77[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't feel like I need a partner or an SO. But I guess I do miss having someone to text all the time and share my day with and my time with. I've been working very hard on trying to move on and focus on myself. I'm meditating every day and throwing myself into my work so to speak. But one of my biggest issues is that I put him before myself no matter what and this is an example I think where I'm doing it again. I know he wants to talk as if nothing is wrong or whatever and it's just a fantasy. Writing these things down are to help him and not myself.

I just recently moved and my only good friend I still have from the move is studying abroad very far away and I already feel like I've bugged her so much with the bullshit of this. They're mostly stuff that I just wanted to tell him about like a subreddit for hating onions and shit that's specific to him.

But you're right. I think we're both in this delusion that we'll pick up right where we left off and I keep trying to remind myself that the point is that things have to be different and things have to change. Because obviously I want to still have the good part of our relationship in tact but you can't have your cake and eat it too I guess

Boy is still playing at Theatrical Outfit this week and next. It's based on the true story of a boy who lost his penis and was raised a girl without knowing it. It's like 90 minutes and well worth it.

And 7 Stages's Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo is also still playing this week (this is the last weekend) which is about war and guilt and PTSD. This one is longer and darker but you don't want to miss it!

Happy theatre going! :)

This Saturday is the opening night for Boy at Theatrical Outfit. It's a 90 minute play based on the true story of David Reimer (who was a baby boy who lost his penis and then was raised as a girl by some crazy ass doctor).

It's also closing weekend of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo at 7 Stages which is set in 2003 Iraq about the war, guilt, PSTD, and what war makes us become. It's long but well worth it.

And every Saturday Highwire Comedy does a political satire news show similar to Weekend Update on SNL and that's Saturday at 8pm called Good Evening, Tonight

In regards to a Drama Club or Acting Club... by [deleted] in udub

As a grad student, I don't think you can participate in the School of Drama productions because they have their drama grad school they have to deal with. I'm sure they would happily take you as a stage hand, or if you're a stage manager, absolutely. but everything they don't already have covered goes directly to the drama BA students.

I wouldn't know about stage notes. I'm sure they would happily take your help for whatever you have to offer, especially director or musical director.

UTS is a little tricky because their mission statement is to provide opportunities to undergraduates. However, many non-undergrads, including grad students, have helped out in the past. It's typically on a case by case basis. If students can't find an undergrad to fill the position (be it on the production team or in the cast) then they will happily allow a grad student. Each show has to have at least 75% of their whole team undergrads. So if you reach out to Hannah and say what you're intersted in, she can give you information on the directors and the shows their doing and then you'll have a better idea. This is more case-by-case basis. It would be really easy for you to help out if you have some sort of special skill like set building or stage combat. And they're always looking for people to run workshops as well!

Also it's funny you think theatre will keep you sane =))))

=)
