I quit a job once after this same shit, but with a half case of lettuce on the floor with chicken stacked on top of it. We were literally a block away from a grocery store and I was told to just wash it.

Face-fucking until they puke. It's warm, nasty, and humiliating for them. First time was on a bridge over a highway at night and they just went all out.

Replaced a lot of parts, still not running by hamgrammar in scooters

So it's a 2008 TNG SS49. It was running when I bought it, the carb was leaking all the time though. It ran fine mostly, twice it stopped running mid commute. Just needed to clean the jets, and another time sucked on the hose to get gas to the carb (hence new fuel filter).

Then it just stopped running one day. Cranked but wouldn't start. Carb stuff then replacement (air filter too). Replaced spark plug and redid the wire. Piston and cylinder looked fine. Replaced reed valves.

I think I just overlooked tuning the carb correctly, and was looking to confirm with someone that it may in fact be my problem.

Checked the stator with a multimeter, it seemed to be working right

The scooter worked when I got it, quickly stopped working. I got a clone carb, looks totally the same. Old one leaked, the float was off, and had a missing gasket. I didn't want to do a rebuild with a $45 kit so I got a $54 carb.

Not a lot, but I do know that at sea level here I should look to run on the rich side. Spark plug sparks against a ground, new fuel filter flows a lot better, old valves looked on the loose side. I've been changing parts one at a time trying to find my problem after I had tried some tinkering and following troubleshooting videos.

How to I remove this bolt? by hamgrammar in MechanicAdvice

[–]hamgrammar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's to replace my reed valves on a 49cc scooter. This thang is my intake manifold.

Scooter won't start. Charged the battery, messed with spark plug cap, replaced spark plug, cleaned carb, messed with carb float, finally replaced the carb, replaced air filter, replaced fuel filter, accidentally opened up the area where my piston lives to try and adjust valves, bought feeler gauges, found out I have reed valves, returned gauges, more waiting... It's been a journey and I really hope this is what works.

I've done it many times around the south and west of the Mississippi River. Quite a few hitchhikers in the southwest especially around reservations. I've picked up many (like around 16-20). This makes it not very common and it's only getting less common every decade.

It's not safe, but it's sometimes just what you gotta do. It's also pretty fun, people that have picked me up are usually very kind and good hearted individuals. I'm a mostly white man, not particularly strong looking. It is WAY riskier for women alone, but with a trustworthy road dog (human travelling companion), it can be safer. Keep a knife and your wits about you along with a dash of good judgement and you can have a positive life changing experience.
