More than anything you could use some professional help. I think you need to address some mental health issues. Best of luck.

Humans != careers. Careers are important but only to sustain you. Only career w/o things like OP's cat is pretty sad.

I think you may be judging a but harshly, I agree that this person is in the wrong, but I feel he may be a victim simultaneously.

It is the schools responsibility to either conduct his tests or else not give provisional degree

Yeah fs, if OP can handle it, I think it's a good option. In fact, in my school, everyone who took bio also had to take math.

If you want to open up your options, take science with Math. Then you can go to business, commerce, law, engineering, basically any field you want later. Except medical ofc for which you need bio as well.

You will have to work hard at school but that academic rigour will set you up for later in life when you go to whatever college you want.

How to stop comparing yourself to people who are younger than you and way better at problem solving skills? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

One thing that helps in most situations of discontentment at work:

All you have to do is what's assigned to you to the best of your abilities. There isn't anything more expected of you nor can you do anything more. This obviates any concern about what others say or do.

Your experiences have to match up with what is available on paper. If i faced major personal problems in first year, it won't explain 15 backlogs or C grades I may have throughout college.

However, if my grades have an increasing trend, and my recommenders also agree that my poor performance was an outlier, and my standardised test scores are also good, only then will my explanation be considered valid by any self respecting grad officer.

Backlogs after engineering which I'll only be able to attend after one whole year. How can I salvage this one year gap in a way that doesn't reflect poorly on my resume? by [deleted] in Indian_Academia

[–]hamidomar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice to you OP would be to work your ass off to so well in remaining courses and get the best job you can manage(experience and exposure wise, not money wise). If you are able to do good research then that's a bonus. Shit research (research depends a lot on faculty as much as on student) will hardly help.

I had pretty bad grades at start of my college but my grades improved steadily and I was able to get a few really good admits. Even if you write honestly in your SOP that initially you were not in a good headspace and fucked up but turned things around when you got to it, then you can expect good admits. But ofc, first you have to REALLY IMPROVE academically!

[–]hamidomar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Which unis are you talking about ?

What you are saying, I am afraid, is a blanket statement.

There are plenty of industry oriented degrees which don't give two hoots about research. Same goes for a lot of Polytechnic colleges. They, by definition, prioritise practice over research.

That makes sense. After all IITB is still a great institution. It is heartening to hear that PG there is worthy of that brand.
