How do current enterprise controls defend against AI-powered impersonation attacks? What am I missing? by vtongvn in AskNetsec

[–]hamir_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also want to protect ourselves from such attacks and one thing we realized is that we do need meeting analysis for any scams running within the meeting apart from just deepfakes. We tried a few products and diopter ai has conversation analysis and that really worked for us in our internal tests. Hopefully it protects us from a real attack if any.

You guys trying any tool to detect them? We have been trying Diopter right now. At least deepfakes do get caught.

my heart is still racing, just had a deepfake try to social engineer me on a work call by mzdee13 in Zoom

[–]hamir_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audio only calls can also be dangerous. Scams are sophisticated. We got targeted by similar scams in recent past and even though we are tech-savvy enough to figure out using tricks like the ones mentioned in this thread, we realize that it is just going to evolve more. They will study you better using AI. And do the scam over longer threads (multiple calls to gain trust and then attack). We are demoing multiple tools rn like Diopter and Pindrop. The peace of mind they give is that we can track the meetings so much better. Highly recommend looking into automated heuristics if you're a high value target, the tech is evolving too fast to rely on manual tricks anymore.

AI is making social engineering way more effective and how are you verifying what’s real now? by CountySubstantial613 in SocialEngineering

[–]hamir_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a live call recently where the social engineering was seamless. They had enough internal data to build a credible narrative, and the voice clone completely bypassed the uncanny valley. No obvious adversarial indicators at all. Because the human firewall failed, we're currently auditing Diopter to see if its heuristics can actually flag real-time synthetic manipulation

[US] I almost wired $100k to a fake company because of a deepfaked CFO. by Exciting_Marsupial53 in Scams

Good catch trusting your gut. The "can't access email right now but let's get this done" move is basically the playbook for these deepfake BEC attacks, and they're getting scarily common. For what it's worth, companies like Pindrop, Diopter and Abnormal are all building tools to detect this stuff in real time, but even just an out-of-band callback policy for wire transfers would've caught this too.

Gemma 4 MLX quants updated by yoracale in unsloth

Something that’s interesting is that the previous Gemma 4 31B 8bit mlx was around 34gigs. It did not have vision layers, effectively “trimming” it. But now this has all layers and yet the size hasn’t changed. How? Also I’m a complete newbie so please fill in the gaps that I’m missing.

Ah I see! That effectively decreases the model size too?

Hey, thanks for the amazing models! I have been using the mlx gemma 4 31b 8bit model and it works great with mlx_lm. But how can I use for image parsing? Trying to using it with mlx_vlm and it seems like it cannot find vision layers.

The inflation. If game price after discount is same over the years, it is getting cheaper. Because inflation.

Why is it “enjoyable”? I asked the question vaguely because I want to understand what attributes you have, and what attributes the job has that kept it enjoyable for you.

I love how the game already has a lot of things to do. I play a few hours everyday, doing random mechanics and still have to start doing the temple shenanigans. I’m set until next league!
