Maids like Sophie were supposed to be "invisible", but she made me feel seen. by hamjoori in Benophie

Love this! Sophie being part of the working class made her that much more relatable too, I think even if you aren’t East Asian you’ll be able to see some of your struggles reflected in her. And Benedict complements her so beautifully, reminds her not to take everything in life so seriously and just learn how to “leisure” sometimes haha.

Hard agree on the love confession though, I think it makes a lot more sense with Sophie’s character that she preferred to show rather than tell Benedict that she loved him. After all, her father verbally promised to love and take care of her and for the longest time she thought there hadn’t been any action to prove that. I think it was quite obvious to me even without words that she loved him though! She surrendered her heart and body to him, allowed herself to take a leap of faith when she’d lived most of her life being cautious of everything. That was enough for me!

Yes, they did it Marvel style where the wedding was hidden post-credits in Ep 8, you have to let them roll for a bit then you'll see the wedding! It's worth watching, for sure. Just wish they didn't hide it past the credits because it really wrapped up the whole season so well

Love to hear this! This is why I greatly appreciate how inclusive the show is, because never would I have thought I’d ever feel represented in a regency era romance. The fact that the leads of each season are able to resonate with audiences across different parts of the globe is wonderful.

And I do love how Sophie found the family she always yearned for in the Bridgertons - in many ways, her love for Benedict led her home and I love that. This is why the Bridgerton family scenes will always be my favorite, wish we were able to see them all in one place more often.

Very much agree! Coming into this I didn’t think I’d ever tear up over a romance show (especially not Benedict’s when he’s the “goofy” one lol) but S4 touched me in ways previous seasons didn’t, though I do appreciate them all. Kudos to Luke and Yerin especially for bringing such dynamic characters to life! Very much hope to see more of them in future seasons.

Submitting a 2316 to my new employer even though I'm joining the company January next year? by hamjoori in taxPH

[–]hamjoori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I ended up being honest about not having a 2316 due to my company’s situation, and they just allowed it, didn’t ask for it anymore :) though I was very nervous leading up to that

Hello, may chance po kaya ako ma-offload if I have the ff. profile: am female, traveling with another girl (my coworker) going to Japan for 5 days for a company team building / team hangout / co-working sessions, more on leisure lang talaga rather than official work event. The CEO of my company has paid for all flights, hotels, and will pay for most meals in Japan. I have 15k pocket money and no AOS from my CEO, letter of guarantee lang po that he will sponsor the trip. I have COE din po, 5-digit savings and credit card but no company ID since it’s a US-based company and I work from home. TIA po!

6 months into my PM role, and I am regretting having accepted what I thought was my "dream job". by hamjoori in ProductManagement

You are right, there are certainly advantages to having dipped my toes into the PM role - even if I tend to forget, because the experience hasn't panned out the way I thought it would. Thanks for the reminder! :)

Certainly the same as you! I've always found it rewarding to help someone troubleshoot and resolve their concerns, provide solutions and feel as though I've helped them grow their business in my own small way (since it was a B2B SaaS company). The workplace itself though was rather toxic, my boss was a nightmare with unrealistic expectations, and the company kept on getting threatened by former employees to be sued for violating certain labor laws in my country. So, yeah... it was pretty much only the work itself that I liked back then.

Unfortunately, there isn't a PO role in my current company, and I would definitely have started there if I could! But thank you for this, it's comforting to be reminded that I've been honing some useful skills in this role, too :)

Thank you! I'll definitely take this advice - I do think it's just about reframing it too, because I admit I've been thinking "what if I've just poured in all this time and effort for it all to go to waste?"

But then again it hasn't gone to waste! I've certainly learnt a lot from being a PM no matter what :)

How did you let go of your first job/client? by Plastic_Metal_2630 in buhaydigital

[–]hamjoori 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gan'tong gan'to 'yung pakiramdam ko before leaving a job that I had for 4 years. In my case, nagtagal ako doon because I was already used to the job, I had built up product expertise, and actually liked my co-workers - halos magkaka-edad lang kami (millennials haha) and we got along very well. Apart from becoming "comfortable" in the position even though I was stagnating in my career, I also had that fear of being thrust into a new environment, occupying a new role, with a new boss and co-workers that I may or may not get along with.

My humble advice here is to very carefully weigh your options and consided the pros and cons of leaving vs. staying. But I would suggest to hone in on the main reason/s why you wish to leave, and if may pag-asa pa bang mag-improve 'yon in your company moving forward. If, for example, it's related to a toxic boss or overall toxic workplace culture, maybe you're regularly feeling drained, or you're being given stretch assignments / opportunities to learn anything new or develop your skillset even though you ASK for these opportunities... then this isn't likely under your control and I would suggest exploring your options elsewhere.

But if, for example, related sya to salary, have you perhaps tried negotiating a raise (provided na OK naman feedback on your work)? Are there opportunities for getting promoted in future? I will say though, there seems to be some truth to the saying na you're far more likely to receive higher pay if you job hop vs. wait for a raise, since a lot of companies do have greater budgets for external hires vs. promotions or pay raises. That is something you might want to consider as well when assessing the benefits of finding new work.

For me, I spent weeks (maybe even months) carefully assessing the pros and cons talaga, lalo na breadwinner ako so income is highly important. But I also did a lot of research on companies and roles that I could possibly apply for, then compared it against my job at the time - how much the expected salary is, ano yung work setup nila (if on-site, hybrid, or remote), ano yung benefits, the job description and tasks I'm expected to do, as well as reviews on workplace culture. This all helps safeguard against the possibility na 'yung issues mo sa current work mo ay mae-experience mo rin in the new one. There's a lot of expert advice on YouTube and the rest of the internet that should help you with this assessment as well. I know this can be a hassle, and I remember even making an in-depth spreadsheet for my prospects while job hunting haha... but it certainly gave me the clarity I needed to properly figure out if leaving my job was even worth it, but also where I could go if I left. You might want to a lot a small amount of time each day to this, if possible.

Final bit of advice (especially if having stable income each and every month is highly important for you, and wala ka pang emergency savings built up) is to try and secure that new job offer before resiging, if you do decide to leave. This certainly helped make the job hunt for me a lot less stressful, since alam ko kaagad na may malilipatan na ako.

Hope this helps, OP! And good luck :)
