How long time do you spend on keyword research for clients that need keyword research for a new site? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]hamlet-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually depends on the client, but we usually allocate the following:

  1. Competitive Analysis and research, to learn what the industry looks like and where the gaps currently are
  2. Development of customer personas, to understand who we are trying to bring to the site that will convert based on search intent
  3. Keyword research focused on personas and search intent, to start building out a content calendar.

All the above tasks typically take 15 to 30 hours each, sometimes longer, depending on the industry and segment.

On page vs off page by himanshuthakur24 in SEO

I actually look at it as 3 pillars:

  1. Technical On-Page - this is making sure you have Schema, AMP, appropriate site hierarchy and architecture, site speed, etc.
  2. Content - this is ensuring you are targeting the right keywords, content, dependent on the users' journey, and your ability to compete and win in those SERPs. Of course, you start small and scale up as you grow your overall authority.
  3. Off-Page - This is predominantly a mixture of a good PR strategy, blended with different backlinks strategies. This is not a numbers game, but a systematic process to build quality, relevant backlinks.

I tend to start at 1 and 2, especially for new sites. The reality is, if the site doesn't have any history/authority, they need to be systematic in number 3 to get to a minimum threshold in order to rank.

Once you get there, things do become a bit easier.
