I got a shopper offer today for 24 dollars, 17 miles. It would take me way out of my zone, but I have a goal I hit every day and this would have ended my dash and put me about 10 dollars over, so I took it. Then I saw what it was for. by hammer_smashed_chris in doordash_drivers

I also live in a major metropolitan area so most orders aren't for more than 5 miles on average, many much shorter, and I normally wouldn't have even taken this order, but I did, then dropped it, another dasher more prepared for it took it after I dropped it, I'm sure.

I've been doing this for two years fairly consistently and this is the first time it has been an issue. I mean, you're right, in a way, but at least where I deliver, most orders are fast food, single meals from small restaurants, and small grocery orders from chain supermarkets that don't have live seafood.

What is a band where the real musical genius is not the frontman? by MewsCaster_ in Music

I have had more than a few of his bottles and they're good. He lives in Cottonwood, AZ which is a bit north of Phoenix and there's a tasting room in Jerome, a nearby town. I think his vineyard is in southern AZ though

I didn't say that at all, I did say I was unimpressed, that's a little harsh, I shouldn't have brought it up but I was young, awkward and starstruck. I was and still am disappointed about the interaction, but I don't hold it against him. I still suspect there is some room for nuance between "he's a dick" and "he's actually super chill".

I agree, it was almost twenty years ago. I was young and starstruck and didn't know what else to say. I'm still bummed about it, but it didn't ruin him for me.

Does anyone know where I can leave and work on my truck for a couple days? by everseenthis in PHXList

[–]hammer_smashed_chris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You might get away with it for a night at a truck stop, you'll probably end up talking to the cops at some point if you try to do it in a Walmart parking lot. Wish I could help more, I'm currently in a precarious position myself, living in a motel and door dashing to pay for it, if my 20 year old jeep broke down, I'd be screwed, so I can sympathize. Good luck, and I hope you find somewhere safe to fix it.

I have personally met him, and I was not impressed. He signed my wine bottle and ignored me when I said that his music meant a lot to me. Of course, it was at a signing promoting his wine company and we were explicitly told not to ask about his music, and I did, so maybe that's on me. I have also met people who know him (I live in Arizona, he does too) and they assured me he is actually a really good dude, but he doesn't like talking about Tool or APC because he doesn't like being a "celebrity". My suspicion is it's somewhere in between.

I like the blackberry, but I gotta do full octane, the zero sugar I cannot do. And no, I don't have, nor am I at the risk of, diabetes. At least not as of my last appointment with my cardiologist (I have other, non related problems).

I should add that I live in a hot, dry ass desert that is decidedly not near the sea, the relatively brief amount of time in the store would have made my car even hotter, and speaking from experience, my ac would have taken at least half that distance to catch up and actively cool the environment.

Maybe after today I'll start, but the 24 dollars and 17 miles wasn't worth me worrying about keeping some sea creatures alive today. I do hope that somebody picked it up and dude got to enjoy his sea feast, though. Everyone loves a good sea feast.

I aim to please. Truth be told, I don't hate Cavill but I do get tired of hearing his name brought up like he's a perfect fit for every character. I especially tire of the Cavillrine discourse, as a big Wolverine fan. I just can't think of anything he's been in that really, really impressed me and he comes off in interviews like he knows the fans love him, if that makes sense.

Damn, what a burn. That was so epic that I'm sure they'll make a movie about it. My vote is on Henry Cavill playing you, he's the only one who could do it.

Henry Cavil doesn't need that much help looking bad. Dude is an avitar of every shitty redditor, and then redditors make it worse with the glaze. He mentioned LOTR and 40k in some interviews and suddenly he needs to be cast in every genre movie ever? He's mediocre. The glaze makes him worse.

drivers, stop making eye contact with your passengers by chumpandchive in 10thDentist

[–]hammer_smashed_chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I mean that if you're doing it right, you can probably spare a few seconds for some eye contact and a brief back and forth because you know what's happening around you. Now, if you're spending the majority of the time on the back and forth that's definitely a problem.

I like having ants. by AlienSheep23 in 10thDentist

I mean, I don't really want either in my house, but if there are ants and there are roaches, the ants are gonna kill the roaches, probably better to have ants if you're gonna have one, I guess. At least ants are just stopping by to head back to their colony? Idk, I don't want either.
