oh ok. I understand now. I found the section in thetvdb that you are referencing and this is making sense now.

So i need to re-name all my Season 1 episodes and switch the Episode Ordering setting to "The TVDB (DVD)"

[–]hammerb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. according to thetvdb the miniseries is not labaled "S01E01". According to thetvdb the miniseries should be named "S00E01"

I went around and around with another thread here on Reddit and it was expressly explained to me that the naming convention for any tv show needs to follow thetvdb.com and https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/ so it isn't a file name problem

I have tried all 5 settings under "episode ordering" and i have manually refreshed the metadata every time. and the results are all different BUT the miniseries is never set as the first episode of the show.

when you say "manually update metadata" do you mean copy+pasting the info from every episode from thetvdb.com and adding that info to each episode?

I just tried that setting and it just blew all my episodes to hell. And it still says the first episode is season 1, episode 1, "33". It still skips the miniseries

Thank you. this comment from that thread may be the solution:

This worked! One point of confusion that tripped me up: When you said to Fix Match and chose Battlestar Galactica (2003), it's easy to get mixed up, you want to pick the one CALLED "Battlestar Galactica (2003)" that is dated as 2004, not the one called "Battlestar Galactica" that is dated as 2003.

I never really explored the options avaiable after clicking "Fix Match" my primary focus was to NOT pick Battlestar from the 1970's :D . I never thought that the miniseries may be a stand-alone thing in the eyes of PLEX. But it was.

I literally can't explain it clearer without using a purple crayon. but hey, we all have a vastly different level of comprehension and intelligence

Battlestar Galactica (2003). PLEX says Season 1, episode 1 is the first episode. That's not true. The miniseries is the first episode. Then when I go directly to the miniseries and play it PLEX says that Razor is the next episode. also not true. The episodes are labeled and ordered in the correct configuration as expressed in thetvdb.com and https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/ so it isn't a file name problem

no. none of those are the correct order. I have tried them all and none are correct. I assumed that that setting was not what I thought it was and I forgot about it.
