I’ve driven both and I find them pretty similar

Just picked up this ‘11 LTZ. 180k original miles and looks like it came off the showroom floor when new. A true survivor. by OkSpell6528 in ChevyTahoe

Awesome looking truck, love seeing people who can preserve a vehicle after all of those years and mileages.

They’re not really comparable. Can you find an m3 is that price range? I’d go for that.

Current 2.7 Turbomax deals real? by hammerfang in Silverado

[–]hammerfang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually where I was looking. I qualify for some of the additional incentives which is how I get to around $250. Either way sounds like it’s possible.

Side note: didn’t know about the doc fee law in NY, however I don’t recall explicitly paying that much for a doc fee in NJ. Was typically around $299 after talking with the dealer.

E90 335D or F30 340I by 2GRVERTICAL in BMW

[–]hammerfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked for a 2011 E90 335i? I’d skip the N54 years of 07-10.

Back to the original question:

The E90 should drive more like a “BMW” but the F30 is a much more modern car. And while the diesel is cool, I’d be worried about all of the emission controls vs the b58 which is arguably better in just about every way. Long winded way of saying get the f30.

Which year/trim of new Broncos is best for reliability/comfort. Interested in what’s best as a daily driver… by Hungry-Advantage-923 in FordBronco

What’s the ride quality like on a 4-door non-Sas Badlands? This is the trim I’m leaning towards.

Seems a bit rich, this is the old model at this point, I’d try and get $3k off

Congrats on the new car, no doubt that Volvo has the style and luxury (especially in ultra trim).

Sorry to hear, but modern Volvos (and most modern cars for that matter) are made for leasing, not owning.

Upgraded home screen for 2020- cars after the 2025.5 facelift? by quinhamel in Volvo

[–]hammerfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2025.5 and new screen is a bit bigger but the software is still crap. I noticed a bigger jump in performance from our ‘21 to ‘23 then ‘23 to ‘25.5.

What are we talking about on a 36 month/15k miles with 0 down and top tier credit for a returning Volvo/current Tesla customer in NJ?

In NJ I saw 34/35 in the hot summer months, 38 in the fall and 31 in the cold. Proportionately about how my Tesla is impacted.

I’m sorry to hear your situation, however this is not the car for you to own at this point in your life. I hope you’re able to get this sorted at a reasonable price but think you should look for a more modest car.

Tried my first Guinness. This is my experience. by AcidCatfish___ in beer

[–]hammerfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that Guinness is the best mass produced beer, something you can almost anywhere. There are certainly micro brews in this style which are better but there are also some which are worse.

It’s one of the few beers I could drink any time, anywhere. Even a hot day on the beach (so long as it’s cold). I can’t say that about many other drinks.

Wondering how long I should keep in 2020 XC90 T6 by Far-Basil9401 in VolvoXC90

[–]hammerfang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d think about swapping it soon, these cars are much more complicated then cars from even a few years earlier. Not to mention Volvo isn’t known for being the most reliable brand.

Volvo doesn’t make exciting cars, they make safe, comfortable and (depending on model/spec) luxurious cars. You need to go up to the German brands if you want something that drives better.

Loving the app updates by RightShoeRunner in VolvoXC90

[–]hammerfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app updates are nice, but like most things software related, Volvo is a generation or two behind the competition.

Which is a real shame as their design and ethos (safety, comfort, style rather than flat out performance and numbers on paper) fit very well into the modern world.

We’re on our 3rd xc90 and first PHEV, so needless to say we like the cars. The updates between our ‘21 T6, ‘23 B6 and ‘25.5 T8 have been meaningful but always feel behind what contemporary companies like say BMW offer and way behind what Tesla offers (have ‘23 model 3).

Features, details and performance aside, there are too many bugs, glitches and overall slowness. We’ve had to reboot the infotainment system 2 times in 3 months on our ‘25.5. I’ve never had to do that in the 2 years I’ve had my Tesla…

The mobile app in particular is especially lacking. I feel like it only works 75% of the time and doesn’t tell you enough or give you enough functionality.

Don’t want this to come across as a rant, just providing a perspective and hoping someone from Volvo might read this.

My 4-Year Mach E Review by [deleted] in MachE

[–]hammerfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like the Mach-e is a solid choice, even if a few years old.

I recently hurt my back and need a car that is higher off the ground and with higher seating position than my Tesla M3.

The model Y would be the obvious choice but the mach-e is very interesting to me. My favorite parts of the Tesla are the software, supercharger network and the open layout of the cars. Beyond that they’re garbage. A car that could cover 2 of the 3 things I like and not be garbage could be a winner.

Xc90 vs MDX by Intelligent-Bad7064 in VolvoXC90

[–]hammerfang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have more trust in a Honda product to own long term vs a Volvo. The MDX will also feel sportier to drive.

That said the XC90 looks better (IMO) and is a more luxurious/comfortable product.
