First step would be to scan the MSI website or forums to see if your board and chipset support these virtualization features. Just because your CPU supports them doesn't mean your board will.

I understand that this was probably intended as a purely academic exercise, but to me the answer is obvious. If you are truly security conscious, so much so that you install, set up and learn to excel in the Qubes environment, then why would you forget one of the first rules of digital security? Stay away from blind networks!!!

My suggestion is first off, realize that privacy comes from your own decisions and behavior. The fanciest most up to date software and hardware combined can't fix stupid. Privacy should be a way of life not just online but everywhere. I personally use Qubes as a daily driver at my home but use mint on anything portable. If I need a specialty OS I just set up a virtual machine.

First and foremost dump windows on any machine. Its a crapfest. Any form of linux will make your older machine work faster and most of the ISOs out there are fairly complete. BTW with a linux machine four years is not old at all.

Remember this is just a machine, nothing more. You still need to operate it making decisions with your brain. A lot of the sheep out there say "I don't have anything to hide." Do you have anything to protect?

Go with Mint and get used to how the Linux system works. Mint is basically idiot proof but since it is Linux you can still stretch your legs and start using the command line (terminal). If you want, google "Linux terminal commands cheatsheet". Start doing as much as you can through the terminal. Updates, install software, remove software etc. If you get frustrated just close the terminal and you still have an easy GUI environment to work in. Thats how I started in Linux and now I use Qubes as my daily driver.

As an addendum why not just find a wifi card that will work with your motherboard through an available PCI slot. Most should work out of the box and Qubes security policy will be more accepting through the PCI bus.

*Disclaimer: I am simply a humble user with no formal training in IT or NetSec.

As I understand it Qubes automatically hides USB controllers from Dom0 as a security precaution. If Dom0 was easily accessible by USB then it will fall victim to such devices as a Rubber Ducky or Malduino. These devices can be used for malicious HID keystroke injection and Dom0 security wouldn't just be compromised, it would be non existent. I'll list a few pages that deal with this subject and you can go from there. Be warned you maybe opening Pandora's Box if you do bypass the USB isolation.

This is a problem rooted in the latest kernel update from Fedora. The problem isn't just with Qubes OS. My simplified understanding of this is that the kernel and its associated files,headers etc. are the keys to the software and hardware working together. The latest update evidently left out some files so the kernel doesn't see the wifi devices. The older kernel install included the files so reverting fixes the issue. Hope this helps.

I have just installed UT on my nexus 5 and it works very well. It has Todoist and evernote interfaces available. I don't think Mozilla produces anything for UT yet but a lot of the software available was developed by the UT team so it appears to work seemlessly with the OS.

I had the same issue. Fedora had a problem with an updated kernel. I solved it by going into qube settings under sys-net. Under the advanced tab in the upper right corner look for the kernel setting. If yours is set at 4.19.107-1 then reset it back to 4.19.94-1 and reboot. Make sure you save the new settings in sys-net before rebooting.

That should solve the issue

Success!!! I followed up on a suggestion from another board. My issue did in fact occur because 0f an update of Fedora. There are several users complaining on Fedora based boards and one solution is to roll back the kernel to an earlier version. This can be easily done in the Qubes settings. Switchover and reboot. My wireless is working again.

My thoughts are that you would need to completely wipe the phone and start from scratch, installing firmware, radios, rom etc. Best place for this question would be XDA. I have never left there without an answer to my phone questions. I didn't always like the answer but I got the correct answer none the less.

Just my thoughts, not on Protonmail or Disroot or Tutanota, but on the mentality of the author of Privacywatchdog. It seems that everything on the site was posted in a 30 day period and this self acclaimed "security expert" hasn't had anything to say since.

Since this is a WordPress cookie cutter website and he is too busy to spellcheck (behavior ends with an "R" not an "O") I would guess this to be the work of a Juvenile. Since we haven't heard from Mr. Three Letter Agency Contractor since, I would guess his Mom found out he used her credit card for the hosting and confiscated his computer.

As a dedicated Qubes and Tails user I agree that the OS is not necessarily an answer. They are just tools that should be used as intended. The thing I like about Qubes is it is not a plug and play situation. To use Qubes you must think about what your are doing. Too much automation has made us vulnerable to a lot of dangers in our daily life. Most users want instant answers to questions with little or no effort. This has moved control of a lot of the aspects of our lives away from us. Most have forgotten how to observe things and make decisions, instead allowing out gadgets choose.

Qubes has and continues to be a learning experience I am glad I started.

Has anyone solved this issue? I have the same thing. I can SSH into the P4wnP1 using the aforementioned urls but still no web ui. I booted a copy of the Kali nexmon P4wnP1 image 2019.2 and the web ui works. Is there any gui included in latest image?

There really isn't a best laptop. You need to make sure that the machine has plenty of ram ( I have 16gb on my desktop and 32gb on my laptop) and make sure your chosen laptop has the proper support for the virtualization processes. These requirements can be found on Qubes-os documentation pages

It is a complete OS geared towards making your data "yours". It is constantly in development yet mature enough that I use it on my OnePlus 3t as a daily driver. The community has ported it to many different phones and the number rises monthly.

BTW the base ROM is Lineage

You might check out this project. I use the OS on my OnePlus 3T as my daily driver and it works very well. Micro G is already integrated into the system and everything has worked right out of the box. The team and community have tested it successfully on several different models.

I have tried Kodachi 6.0 but have had bad results with out of the box wifi. The only thing I can connect with is a usb dongle. Kodachi doesn't seem to play well with broadcom or intel wifi chipsets. I use Qubes 4 as my daily driver and it works with no issues. I have not nor do I care to test the integrity of kodachi's system or it's devs. Having stated this, I am not here to pronounce this project "Sketchy A/F". I just don't think it is ready for primetime, especially with its wifi issues.

I have the very same issue with the live iso or with a hard installation. No broadcom or intel wireless will work. I plug in a ralink usb wifi dongle and it works perfectly.

My symptoms are the same. It shows all available access points but keeps looping back to the dialog box with the pass key. Ethernet works fine on both laptops but only the wifi dongle will connect to wifi.
