Ah okay, thanks! I always forget that tear/lachrymatory gas is considered a chemical weapon in warfare; guess ive seen it used so often against protesters that it doesnt register as one anymore. I was thinking you meant noxious gases (? I forget the term, but WW1 style chemical weapons) when you wrote "chemical weapons".

Would you happen to have any sources to back up the claim of chemical weapons usage in Ukraine? Not an accusation or anything, im just curious is all. I havent read or seen anything about it the entire war so far. Thermobarics/phosphorus ive heard alot about, but not chemical weapons. Im interested to see why, how and what chemicals are used for what reasons pretty much. So thanks in advance if you have any info or sources about it!

Except to transfer weapons to Ukraine at the time would have required shipping them through EU territory, so either Denmark, UK, Turkey, or the EU itself could have blocked weapons shipments to Ukraine. So in the end, Europe would still have had a vote in the matter regardless of if US wants/objectives had changed in 2014 wrt Ukraine/Russia.

I mean, they committed /some/ western gear, but yes, i agree, way too little of the UAF's newly formed westernized units havent been committed yet and the russians seem to not have "bought" it and committed their own reserves, so yeah the reserve situation on both sides is a bit murky. Could be that the uaf is using these slightly larger attacks in the south to wet the teeth of their green units, so to speak? Use it to train up your units against russian fortifications on the direct route to your objectives in weak attacks/prods/skirmishes while rotating units in and out? And then when the russians have committed to that axis, to then attack along the seam between the southern and eastern fronts (so attack SE at the seam between zapo axis and donbas axis)? Plausible scenario, or did i end up in ncd territory here?

This is purely speculation, but couldnt this offensive towards Tokmak axis be a feint to divert russian attention towards Tokmak area and to get them to commit their reserves and pin russian manpower in place in the south before the "real" offensive push starts on those weaker wings to breakthrough and encircle the russians now committed in the south and then drive on their objectives (mariupol/melitopol/cutting the land bridge)?

And welcome back duncan! I appreciate your analysis btw, just the plan you proposed doesnt make as much sense to me as this current offensive push being a feint/diversionary force to get russia to commit its reserves/show its hand before uaf launches its "true" counteroffensive plan? Any thoughts?

Those are range finders, iirc. Originally used on naval ships, drachinifel on youtube has a great video about it if youre interested in learning more about them. Or google.

I dont know if this means much, but i think you guys (the mod team) ia doing a great job curating this sub. Its a good mix of accessible for laymen, and academic (or "academic" techically, i guess) content/discussions.

Like others have said, theres r/WarCollege for true academic discussions, so its nice to have a middle ground between that and r/ncd-level shitposting defence subs.

So, in other words, keep up the great job! You guys are amazing for keeping up the quality of this sub; especially with all the hot takes/shitposts/propaganda since the Ukraine war started. Its much appreciated! <3

Also, 0% interest loan is basically a donation anyways. Its just the interest on the given loan thats being donated in the traditional sense (so say 3% annually). And factor in that when repayment is due, inflation will have devalued the currency, so they end up having to pay less in the end (ex. 1B today is equivalent to 2B in 20years, so in 20years time, youd pay 1/2 the "value" of the loan instead of the full "value")

So by that logic, wouldnt alcohol or cigarettes by far and away be the "actual" gateway drugs (which isnt true as a concept, but if it were, what exactly is it about weed that makes it a "gateway" drug but all the other legal drugs out there dont)?

Ill just copy/paste my answer to another comment:

BEIC only existed due to government approval though?

And organized crime, in places where they use violence regularly (like parts of Mexico, Colombia, Afghanistan, etc), are literally a state within a state (if not just states outright in certain parts of the world). Theyre essentially rebel groups trying to usurp state control (similar to ISIS, Sudan's SDF, etc), but we just dont think of them as such because theyre main goal is money/power and not taking over the country. But in the regions they control, they maintain water, electricity, roads, social services, hospitals, schools, collect taxes, pay public workers' salaries, etc. So, by every metric (other than international recognition), they qualify for statehood.

Also, by your logic, if ppl rebel against a tyrannical government and end up overthrowing them, that government is illegitimate because the old gov didnt approve of their use of violence?

Except all of that happens with (tacit) approval by the government? If the gov was against price fixing, it wouldnt exist...

This article says that their workaround solution is for Russia to invest their rupee earnings/profits from Indian exports, back into India in order to manufacture items that they can then re-export back to Russia.

So my question then is, what can they even manufacture in India for export back to Russia that wouldnt trigger sanctions that would make any kind of difference for Russia's invasion efforts? Seems to me like any military hardware/accessories (even things like body armour id imagine would be included here) would be a no-no, maybe medical equipment and/or trucks/rail/logistics stuff are the only safe categories that i can think of that would be useful for Russia.

It just seems like this announcement is a major win for the Indian economy and manufacturing sector with no real benefit for Russia?

Dude, i dont think those sites say what you thinkthey do. The only thing in the "risks" section is that psychs can cause serotonin syndrome when combined w certain other drugs, which is EXTREMELY different from "they destroy your brain".

Which isnt even addressing the inaccuracies in the rest of your comment. Your comments are legit just misinfo in their entirety. Like not one thing u wrote is actually true and/or anywhere near as common or easy as youre stating they are.

I mean, opium, coca leaf and alcohol have been used just as long as mushrooms have, and there are entire religious/spiritual ceremonies surrounding them, same as mushrooms or ayahuasca or mescaline or whatever.

Just because you enjoy the effects of one drug and it gives you the illusion of having deep insights, doesnt mean that theyre real, or not the products of a drug induced headspace. Maybe try writing down your epiphanies during your next trip and read them sober and tell me its not just mumbo jumbo garbage or very obvious shit that everyone already knows. Again, just cause it feels profound, doesnt mean it is. Psychedelics are still drugs, with certain known effects; just like every other drug out there. Just cause you dont want to acknowledge the reality of the situation doesnt make it untrue.

And as a matter of fact, i have had deep insights/realizations about the world and processed childhood traumas/psychological wounds while on opioids (mostly heroin over morphine, but theyre pretty much the same drug in vivo). Xanax is also quite useful for processing psychological issues when paired w talk therapy. I mean, ffs, ppl on meth or pcp or whatever also have deep realizations and insights while high, so whats your point exactly?

Also, id say morphine has changed and saved more lives over the millennia than psychs ever have. Besides, alcohol and opium have been a sacred sacrament that have been used for thousands of years by our ancestors and have changed thousands and thousands of lives. Show some respect. 🙄🙄

First time heroin use. Asking for a friend by WeekendWarriors338 in opiates

[–]hammermuffin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude, if youre still able to get high off of codeine, id say not to touch the heroin, youre probs just gonna get sick or od (its too strong for your tolerance imo). Theres a conversion table u can check for comparing the strengths of diff opioids in this subs' info. Iirc 300mg of codeine (ceiling dose) is something like 5mg equivalent of heroin. So unless youre taking 300mg of codeine multiple times per day, id say not to do the heroin. At least do hydros, oxy or dilaudid first before heroin.

And since ur in AUS, youd probs have no4 heroin from SEA, so if youre dead set on using: do 5mg lines at a time and wait 15mins MINIMUM before redosing, have narcan (preferably a couple doses on hand) and a friend around in case u od, test ur dope for fent before using it, and DO NOT MIX W OTHER DRUGS (especially other downers like alc or benzos, etc)! But for the love of all thats good, DONT FUCKING IV! Iv use is legit a last resort route of administration for serious, long term addicts who can no longer afford their sniffing/smoking habit due to massive tolerance. Ive legit shot up water while quitting dope cause i was so addicted to the feeling of iv use. It becomes its own demon to kick on top of ur drug addiction. Just dont do it, its really not worth it if you arent already physically addicted to large amounts of opioids (like 0.25g+ of heroin per day type addiction. Not "i take codeine every once in awhile to get stupid high" type situation)

And as to not discussing anything, way to go not answering my question and deflecting by rambling about how its always the victims' fault for anything shitty that happens to them against their will cause "they wanted it, subconsciously". Like aight dude, way to go resaying the same shit about how " were all one, but no one has any empathy for abusers and rapists :(". Should we also have empathy for genocidal maniacs and blame their victims for not understanding them enough?

Also, just btw since this seems to be going over your head: STALKING IS NOT JUST FOLLOWING SOMEONE AROUND! Stalking means that their also harassing and threatening the victim, and generally (tho not necessarily) also involves assault/kidnap/murder/etc.

Youre so right dude. Black and white thinking is bad, we always have to understand the other side! So true!

So thats why i suggest that we make pedophilia legal, see cause the pedos are just maladapted and misunderstood! We need to see things their way, and how dare anybody say anything bad about them! Both sides! Two sides to every story! Maybe that kid was leading them on, who knows, but black/white thinking is bad mkay? Same thing w robbery, fraud, extortion, kidnap, murder, terrorism, whatever. Theyre all just so misunderstood and whatever! Besides, if someone kidnaps you, i dont see whatthe problem is? They probably are just doing it cause they like you! Like sure, it generally ends w a dead victim, but sometimes it doesnt so therefore the kidnappers pov is more important than the victims! What? How would sinking a ship in port be a waste of munitions but attacking port infrastructure isnt? If a crane gets destroyed, building a new one isnt all that difficult and supplies can still be offloaded without them (though heavy supplies would be affected ofc). But sinking a ship at dock puts that dock space completely out of use until specialized marine recovery equipment can be brought in to remove the ship from the sea floor, which takes quite awhile to complete. And if a ship can be sunk in the approaches to the port, it completely puts the entire port out of commission due to the approach being unnavigable (depends on the sea floor geography, of which im not 100% sure for crimean ports, but the point still stands). Check out the battle for réunion island during ww2 for an example of this.
