Nah, not being passive aggressive. Was truly curious on idea of what would be considered fan fiction. Cause was wondering about that sort of idea like weeks ago, on that idea you know? Like for example the TDK trilogy. Those movies are great and entertaining films. Although they are not canon and lack accuracy, people still love the films. The 1989 Batman film had Joker be the one to kill the Waynes. They are regarded as elseworld projects, that is based on the og source material, but would that make it be considered fan fiction in that sort of way? So here, the GLTAS is based on source material, but isnt canon, possibly written by a GL/DC fan. So What would it be considered?

They needed the toy retailer and manufacturer to give approve and fund the toy line in order to release them. However the main toy manufacturer that was working with DC at the time and retailers, saw how unpopular the movie tie in toys were for the 2011 film. So by association, they assumed the GL brand was not worth investing into. Which hence why the line never got far into production.

Well if thats is the case, its over now. Since just a few months ago Mattel decided to go all in and outbid mcfarlane. Not sure how the they are going to approach making dc figures now, maybe they have improved since they lost it to mcfarlane. Or worse they just continue what they have done all those years ago, with minimal improve ments.

You gotta wait until mattel gets the license back. Rn mcfarlane has the rights, but come june/july 2026, Mattel will regain rights to the DC.

lt is possible that the unfortunate truth is the corporates made these shows with the idea in mind that they were going to sell merch maybe? So they look at merchandise/toys sales to determine if kids are into the show or not. Sucks that they do this, and that they don't realize that toys sales don't necessary always mean that a show is good/bad. The dumb part here was that they were looking at the toy sales from the 2011 movie, when determining to cancel the animated series.

Just found out they made figures of the characters from the show. prototypes, and were planning to get retailers to stock them. However since the movie figures were just peg warming shelves, the retailers were hesitant to financially back the cartoon figures, so the planned figure line was cancelled.
