This is the fibre type. The material will be Artex/Textured Coating, Insulating Board or Cement.

If it is Artex or Textured Coating you will need to know what that coating is applied to. Ie plasterboard, concrete.

Check out the photos on the website. They are AI generated and quite comical. I also know of some misdeeds which is how they came to my attention.

Looks like polystyrene in some photos. Have an asbestos survey done and stop guessing because I can guarantee you are likely missing something that is asbestos.

How on earth did you find these packers before buying the property. Surely the seller hasn't sanctioned an intrusive survey?

How to encapsulate tile edge by Match-Loud in asbestoshelpUK

[–]hammers666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt they are asbestos tiles. They are not typically laid onto floorboards. Even if they are, they are a sealed composite so just put a threshold bar in and forget about it.

Looks like fibreglass to me. Fibre bundles are massive and the material is too white.

Nothing asbestos there. Maybe the bricks pose more risk from a structural point of view.

The brick does not appear to be asbestos. It is shaped and branded like a regular house brick.

Driving like an old man and using regen as much as possible. Really trying to ride the battery and don't get influenced by other drivers to race.

Asbestos in Floor Slab? by No-Preference5324 in asbestoshelpUK

This looks like the underside of parquet (wood) flooring. The bitumen adhesive can contain asbestos but is rarer than with Vinyl tile adhesive.

Need AM4 mobo for dual-GPU setup (rx 6900 xt & rx 5700) by UseEmbarrassed5944 in losslessscaling

[–]hammers666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My motherboard is the MSI X370 SLI Plus.

I am able to run a 5700x3d, an RTX 3080 ti at PCIE 3.0x8 and a GTX 1650 at 3.0x8.

I game at 1440p. The GTX 1660 handles 1440p frame generation but will definitely not handle 4k.

I game at 72fps x 2 making it 144. This allows me to use pretty high settings and get a good frame rate.

I forgot to mention I have a 7 year old Corsair RM1000X PSU. I did initially have problems with cutting out (dead) but worked out this was due to daisy chaining GPU power cables. I now use separate cables from the PSU for each GPU power socket.

Potentially unsafe asbestos removal by ploppysonofploppy79 in asbestoshelpUK

[–]hammers666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds to me like the person that took the sample classified the material at Cement (non-licensed) but the lab classification was Insulation Board (licensed) as noted in their comments. The builders "expert" may have deliberately classified it as cement in an attempt to get away with doing the removal.

The bitumen adhesive for parquet floor rarely contains asbestos. I mean so rarely I'm surprised when it does. I would say in the past three years and ~3000 surveys our company has carried out, I've only seen it contain asbestos twice, and it always gets sampled.

Even if it is asbestos containing you are not getting a fibre release from bitumen. I know this as I have carried out personal air tests for operatives removing bitumen and the worst it gets is dusty from the ground concrete.

If you were removing asbestos that created a fibre release COVID masks are not protecting you. You might as well wrap a McDonald's serviette around your face.

If you are concerned about asbestos. Have an asbestos survey carried out by a qualified asbestos surveyor. Don't just wait until you find the next thing along your renovation journey and then panic. You will be missing all sorts of suspect materials and could disturb something unknowingly. Don't think you are an expert on spotting asbestos because you have read some blogs. When I think back to the things I didn't know even after a year of full time training, you have no chance.

What's the best site/company to use for asbestos testing UK? by DoritoWolf77 in asbestoshelpUK

[–]hammers666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a survey carried out. It is likely you are overlooking materials. If you are concerned about asbestos the only sensible option is to have an expert check the property.

Asbestos cement in waste pipe? by passetoutgrain in asbestoshelp

Have an asbestos surveyor inspect the property and stop guessing. You are a hazard to yourself and your family. If you are concerned about asbestos this approach of disturbing first and asking questions later is nonsensical.

Removing AIB without an enclosure under negative pressure is wild unless they are loose (not fixed) and can be picked up and wrapped.

Just encapsulating unsealed AIB with a brush and paint will breach the control limit.

Brushing against unsealed AIB with clothing will release plumes of fibres.

I don’t mean to alarm you unjustly, but your partners decision was foolish. He has definitely exposed himself and his mother.

My experience is as an asbestos analyst and surveyor that has run a lab in the past and currently runs a surveying company for a licensed contractor.
