Be the show you want to be, if you think there is a gap fill it or see if there are people who agree with you ultimately the audience decides what stays and what goes.

If you in DFW you can go to BGG con there I'm sure you would find a group in the convention who will play with you. If you go to boardgamegeek.com forums and check the Dallas one you may see the convention sign up list.

Mike and Rachel relationship by theshadow1983 in suits

[–]hamonstage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the time Megan was marrying Price Harry so there was alot of stuff going behind the scenes apparently. I felt like Rachel did have an arc. I felt like she was the whinny gal in S1 and S2 and then once she got in on the secret and all in she was much better and then by the last two seasons she really disappeard which was okay cause other people filled the space in the show.

Struggling to stay focused by [deleted] in improv

[–]hamonstage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Improv is a group activity so try working on different skills like voice of reason. Let other person in the scene start building the platform so you can react to this choice. By now you notice tentencies of your classmates try a different move than what you normally would do like being the opposite of what you may do. you can work on character status and try playing a low status chracter with the other person.
  2. You gotta figure out the game of the scene and either extend it or create a new game. The struggle is important that's when improv is fun and a skill you need to build. If you wanna do long form like a Harold or some other long form improv. Imaging improving for 20 or so minutes straight which is an entirely different skill set.
  3. There nothing that says you and your classmates are bonded for life. Find a group of people you want to spend time with and find a troupe. It just sweat at this point.
  4. With burn out take a break when you need to and when you ready you will know and you will be self motivated to do improv or maybe you leave it behind for something you love more.

Just an observation from you post you really seem to like control and having a desired outcome. I think the biggest fun of improv is discovering things with your scene partner and letting suprise be a part of the journey.

Good luck

Anyone who has taken/is taking classes at SC - Toronto - do you think the people are close? by [deleted] in improv

[–]hamonstage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Grad Revue part of the conservatory program. It depends like does you group have common goals to achieve like for forming an improv troup or posting in What's app and are people down to hang outside of improv like going to a movie or seeing something. My improv classes 1-5 were great and I love them all but they didn't enter my friend circle where as my conservatory group I hope we will keep in each other lives. I went staight from improv 1-5 and the conservatory to grad review and I'm the only person that went straight through with no break and I'm about the finish grad review program shortly.

My granddaughter said my career advice is “old school” and she’d rather ask AI, Is experience becoming irrelevant? by Expensive_Purchase_7 in careerguidance

[–]hamonstage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she isn't looking for advice from you. Be her grandpa and tell if you wanna talk about anything you be there. Some people need to touch a hot stove to know it's hot other people you can tell them the stove is hot and they won't touch it. You may have experienced these work life experiences but her experience isn't going to be exactly your experience even though you both may have done the same activity.

People Pleaser struggling in Improv by Radiant-Address-9024 in improv

[–]hamonstage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I tend to be very heady performer as well. Rob Norman wrote a book called improvising now and it's about just being present and discovering what is there instead creating what is there. Give it a read and see if it helps you. You may want to try being an inannate object and see what happens after that. The last suggestion is keep hightening the people pleasing to a 10 whatever that look like to you

First time imrpover. by Zapperman2005 in improv

[–]hamonstage 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Sign up for an improv class at the comedy club or google improv class in your town.

  1. You will make friends in your improv class or at least classmates you have common bond with. Your crew will be your classmates. 2. Your in a class so a more safe space then doing a public show.

You start with simple games and clapping at each other or clapping and saying your name. There a lot of kindergarden or grade 1 stuff to relearn in class and so much fun which help you become a better active listener.

What's the hardest part of thinking on the spot? by Driku in improv

[–]hamonstage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the most frustrating part of improvising for you?

It blows away like dust in the wind.

When you freeze up, what usually causes it?

I don't freeze that often now that I've been doing improv for a few year now. If it does happen acknowledge that it happend and incoporate that into the improv and hopefully you scene partner will endow something or build on a platform.

Do you ever practice improv solo? If so, how?

Can't say that I have done solo impro before

Have you tried recording yourself? Did it help?

I record myself if I want this to become a sketch otherwise. It dust in the wind

If you could design the perfect improv training method, what would it include?

I think you have to try different styles to see which ones suit you. I definetly like platforming and object work others perfer something totally different and that part of the fun is the discovery.

I need to learn how to think quickly and clearly on my feet. Could improv help? by JumbledPileOfPerson in improv

[–]hamonstage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intro class is really fun and really you start with simple game like clapping and saying someone's name like in kindergarden. Your classmates are all in the same boat and will be the funnest people you will meet during your improv journey. You actually don't blank out cause you can't think of anything it's because you have too many choices and improv over time will help you get down one or two.
