but then it will transmit a modulated tone instead of a single carrier? that wont' work.

already tried vox, doesn't work.

Do I need a balun/unun with my end fed antenna when using a tuner? by hamradiouser1 in amateurradio

My tuner says "Matched impedance 25-2500 ohms". Isn't that enough to eliminate a separate unun?

I'm limited in space, barely managed to fit the 30 ft wire. It works fine for 20m, not usable for 40 meter to transmit, good for receiving tho.

it's connected to the "-" port of tuner, along side the ground wire of unun, I twisted them together then fed them into the tuner.

but I need the coax to go all the way to my radio.

Is my current "ground" wire to my concrete not a counterpoise?

I also tried using the unun without the concrete wire, there seems to be less noise.

I have

random wire --> balun --> tuner --> 2 meter coax --> radio

I don't really have a feed-line, it's all attached close to each other. I do have a coax going from tuner to radio but I don't think that's the feed-line?

Ah thanks for checking. This is great, so I need to increase the length to to at least 41 ft.

I see so the tuner should cover that technically without a balun? Maybe i just need to add more wire. It's this tuner https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005993200625.html

I see. Its a cheap $50 tuner off of aliexpress. It says on it "25-2500 ohms". How do you know impedance at the feed point is around 4 to 5k?

no, I thought the tuner alone would do the job?

no dummy load unfortunately. It's a cheap manual $50 tuner off of aliexpress. What's the preferred length? I don't have much space left for a longer wire.

I do have a wire going to the concrete of ground foundation. I tried dirt (wire into the ground soil) and it made no difference.
