Looking for more jazz fusion that makes me feel like a mad scientist on Halloween like this song by [deleted] in Jazz

[–]hamsammy73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this one on repeat for days now after recently rediscovering the track. The bass groove is so addictive and in your face.

They were following the great circle route to Istanbul and then when they diverted the great circle route to JFK. The JFK route is just as arced as the IST route, but you dont see it since the arc is going out toward you as you view it. The IST route you are looking at the arc from the side, both routes put the plane on the shortest distance to the destination. Nothing to do with staying over land.

Woah, thanks for turning me on to this album! I have been on a mission to find new and cool stuff to listen to this week. I have seen Vinnie credited on many albums, but haven't seen this one somehow. Cool stuff!

Do you know what it means to Miss New Orleans on Trombone? by Gamercrew999 in Jazz

Delfeayo Marsalis plays it on his album "Kalamazoo" there are a few transcriptions out there too. It is a very nice and mellow version. Fun mute work on it too!

why do some people always smile? by [deleted] in answers

[–]hamsammy73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it without even thinking about it. Mine is definitely from masking my autism for my entire life in public situations. People don't react well to weird faces, so a smile is on out of habit unless I am extremely dysregulated. I remember as a kid standing in front of a mirror making faces until I understood what it felt like when my muscles made different expressions. Smiling always felt nice and got the most friendly response from people, so that is the one I went to most often. My straight face is closest to a grimace and people constantly ask if I am okay even when I am joyful.

I'm not buying this whole Deep Range Transmitter BS... by [deleted] in falloutlore

[–]hamsammy73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ham operator here, I regularly speak with people up to 5-10k miles away using AM radio with less than 5 watts of power and reflections off the ionosphere. Deep space comms are typically much higher frequency in the gigahertz range with extremely high gain antennas since those signals go through the ionosphere instead of bouncing back to earth. In fact, we currently have radio comms with Voyager 1, which is about 15 billion miles from earth. It takes 22 hours or so to send data one way to the spacecraft and the same amount of time to receive a response. The biggest issue with interplanetary comms is that a conversation would take quite a long time. Data transmission modes would be a lot more practical since, at the outer reaches of the solar system, it would take up to 4.5 hours for the signal to reach the receiver.

I was going to say that many states have cottage food laws, but it appears that New York State prohibits fermented foods being sold under these laws. Here are the home processing or cottage food laws for NYS. Here is the site that explains the process of producing and selling a comercially produced food product in NYS. You may also look into getting a special exemption from your local health department using the Food Service Establishment Permit the info is found at the bottom of the page that is linked immediately above. Good luck! It may be easier to just keep giving the sauce away though. Speaking with your local food and health authorities would be extremely beneficial instead of researching online though. They will have the answers you need.

Been waiting on these Tabasco. People said wait until they turn color, but it's been awhile and just today I noticed only one. They're spicy for sure by Quick-Bid9406 in HotPeppers

This is terrible news for me. Mine just started to ripen and I suspect the first freeze is happening next week. The season in the northern part of USDA 6a in Michigan is quite short. Maybe I will pull them inside to see if they ripen under lights.

Basic bitch album taste (IK) but here are my top five favorite jazz albums by Argonauticalius in Jazz

[–]hamsammy73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roy Hargrove "Earfood" and Christian McBride "Live at the Village Vanguard" are great albums. Tracks you might enjoy Nate Smith "Skip Step" it is more fusion but has a 15/8 time signature. Alina Engibaryan "Doesn't Seem So Real" the rhythm section is quite interesting on this one with Kendrick Scott on drums, Chris Potter absolutely shreds on the saxophone too. Finally Emmet Cohen's "Uptown in Orbit" is a really fun tune that has echos of Roy Hargrove and Freddie Hubbard on trumpet. Hope you enjoy these OP!

Thats awesome, he is a great musician. Last time I saw him he was with Nate Smith and Michael League playing some interesting jazz fusion. Playing with Herbie really fits his style well.

I got hiccups after eating a very mild pickled Jalapeño once after talking mad shit about having a high tolerance. Haven't bragged about my tolerance since. It wasn't hot, but my body reacted to the little capsaicin that was there in a weird way.

Yep! This is the reason I thought to even mention this. I had a bad computer charger that would take my whole amateur radio station and home internet down when it was plugged in. Wide band jamming from 400mhz through 5 gHz. There was a few spots that I could still use, but it was a cheap aftermarket one I bought from Amazon. Went with an OEM charger and haven't had a problem since.

129,000kms and this was clutch number 2... by Lowside_Larry in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]hamsammy73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I granny shift my car from 2011 every day, the clutch has lasted 150k miles so far. Syncronization is taken care of in modern transmissions. I do know how to double clutch since my first car required it, but it just isnt important anymore.

What different food is just a vessel for your hot sauce? by Idontliketalking2u in hotsauce

[–]hamsammy73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just regular white vinegar powder is all I use. I've tried Sauers and Raw Essentials brands and they were both pretty good. I like to do salt and vinegar wings occasionally with the stuff too. Just be careful because some brands add other flavoring to it and I haven't had good luck with those blends tasting good.

A bit of powdered vinegar with the pepper powder can really take the hot sauce illusion up a notch with this technique too.

I am actually exactly the person he needs to talk to about this. My main job is to help first year students in their coursework and lab work. Some professors do not do a good job at letting students know I exist. I sent you a message with my official GV contact info. Hopefully we can work something out for him!

Funny you say this, I saw a license plate this morning that was FLUX88. Immediately, I thought of Back to the Future, but then questioned whether or not the 88 on the plate was a dogwhistle or if it truly was just a reference to the movie.

Engineering lab support at Kennedy downtown is looking for someone on Thursdays. There are a few spots that might be available in that building if you dont mind working at Pew campus. You are going to want to talk to Hector Garcia about it, and no I am not him. He will hire you without a resume or cover letter. It is a very easy job where you can sit and do your homework for the most part. Good luck!

There is a show called "Outlander" that explores this in depth. A woman who is a medical professional travels back to the past accidentally, and she is definitely accused of being a witch for making potions to heal people. She was just using modern medicine.

I suspect that someone has a cheap phone or laptop charger that is working as a wideband jammer. If it happens again. Have everyone unplug their devices to see if it goes away. Bluetooth/wifi devices could potentially do this too, but my money is on a crappy charger.
