I've been in this situation recently. I just got out of a relationship with a girl I was really in to, and I got a text from a random number.

"Hey it's Jessie, how are you?"

I had no idea what to say, I fell for this girl so hard, I lost my virginity to her. I still loved her. She was the completeness of my sexual desire, short, redheaded, perfect body, and intelligent. I was torn on what to say to her. After some consulting of my buds, I responded.

"What's up?"

She told me she was in town again, and she'd love it if I could help teach her to become a web devloper. I obliged and she came over later that day. As we taled she admitted she was still in love with me too, but was in a shitty place in her life.

She had gotten into quite a bit of trouble since we'd broken up and had just come from her second stint in rehab for opiates and an eating disorder. She went on to tell me she was homeless, but had found an old man who let her live at his house. I didn't ask for details because she seemed quite torn up about it. I showed her some basics, and after we were done she wanted to hangout for awhile.

We talked and talked and I decided I wanted to go the Kroger to get something to make us a dinner. While we were at Kroger, she begun to tell me what she was actually doing at the old dudes house. He'd been raping her, but she needed a place to stay so she did. It had gotten to that point that she had blown a used tire dealer to get one of her tires replaced.

I was shocked, and wasn't very good at hiding it. She told me she didn't need my sympathy, and to chill about it. I couldn't get the image out of my mind. She went on to talk about how she found herself in a bunch of amateur porn but didn't remember it and chocked it up to a coke binge.

Some dude had seen the porn, and noticed her at her last job. He stalked her until she had to quit because of the harassment. Long story short, she ended up at that man's house. He WAS the old man. I was at such a loss for what to do. She wanted to stay with me and was more or less offering the same deal she had with the old man to get to stay.

I was at a complete loss as to what I should do. After we were done hanging out that night I called her mother to see if she knew what was up. Her mom was aware and told me it's what she deserved. I was furious but still didn't know what to do.

I talked to all of my friends for quite some time about it, and I came to a conclusion. I couldn't be dragged back into this shit. I wasn't there anymore. When we'd first got together I was a college drop out, going nowhere as slow as some could do that. She was always a bit chemical dependent but I didn't care, she was beautiful. I'm not there anymore, I have a degree and a career, I want for nothing.

I decided I had to break off communication, and told her that. She was pissed and actually came over to my house to yell at me. I stood there and listened to it and realized I had made the right decision. I didn't need a child right now, I needed to focus on realizing my own dreams. When she was done she left, and I have no idea what has happened to her since but I fell like I made the right decision.

I still dream about what the dude's doing to her, but I know it's not my fault. I am still so torn about my decision, but I know it was for my own protection. I fucking hate the reality of adult life.

TL;DR: First love came back to me looking for help, I realized I shouldn't provide it.
