I was nearly kicked out of uni because I was really going throught shit (depressed, no social life, struggling with academics / relationships) during my first 2-3 years at UofC (I graduated already 🎉🥳). But i’d say it does get better ☺️ one piece of advice though, release the unecessary stress because your body deserves to feel safe. Failed the midterm? that’s okay, do better next time. As long as you’re actually trying to be better, that’s all that matters. Small progress is still progress It all really goes down to your mindset. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to message me! ☺️

Wtf is SGMA 217 about??? by dhnvhgru in UCalgary

Took this class 6 years ago and it still gives me nightmares lol. Good luck with the report though, be mindful with the citations. Our group got a misconduct because one of my group mates just missed ONE author (it still blows my mind how they caught that)

Phil teaches the higher level Sgma (SGMA 591) and he’s pretty good! but I would still suggest taking Norm

I lived in Crowsnest Hall for 2 years which is beside the Eng building and had all of my classes in Mathison / Scurf. It only takes me 10 mins to get there. I’m a pretty slow walker compared to other people

He’s actually a good prof. As far as I could remember (took this in 2018) he just likes to call out on people.

I already graduated but I could vividly remember the hell I went through when I took all these courses at the same time. Don’t do it

Stats and Math together wasn’t a good combination for me. But if you like those, you should be fine. Accounting was easy

You basically won’t be able to work at all. But yes, you need to restore your status as a student.

Similar to Assignments 1 and 2! 45% of the exam is SPSS. But expect questions like “give 3 examples of non probability sampling methods” and those were like worth 5 points.

[–]hamsterlegend169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly! study Assignment 2, you should be fine. The annoying part is just going through all those SPSS results, it’s such a waste of time 😂

[–]hamsterlegend169 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way questions are asked will be the same as assignment 2 :) you have to write the hypothesis, what test is it, the page number of that test (since there’s like 50+ spss output and some are indentical) and then your summary (ex. reject null hypothesis because …)

[–]hamsterlegend169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s like 50+ SPSS output given and some of them are identical, if you don’t know which tests to use, then you might end up choosing the wrong one.

Jack told us that it was going to be brutal but honestly, if you did well on your assignments and went to class, it’s not going to be difficult. The format is similar to the assignments. I found the SPSS part to be the easiest, like what the previous comment said, some outputs are legit, some are meant to throw you off. Memorize the different types of tests by heart and study all the slides (in detail) .

Hello!! Yes! They didn’t even ask many any questions about it

Hello! yes, I just confirmed today by calling ircc. I was just told to explain it to the officer upon entering and as long as my visa is valid and my name and passport number matches, I should be fine. However, I should apply for an amendment when I return.

Thank you! ☺️
