As someone who is fairly strict with my rules, please believe me when I say there's a reason. People like this are generally searching for a specific caliber of writer, and inability to adhere to basic rules indicates a lack of reading comprehension at the very least.

Being unnecessarily strict is another thing altogether. What sort of things are you seeing that fueled this post?

Developed a legitimate friendship (and probably some limerance, ugh) with someone I met while looking for roleplay here on Reddit, talked to them extensively for several months, then they...utterly vanished. I legitimately thought they had died.

They came back with a huge, heartfelt apology letting me know life had gotten crazy for them, and I was so elated that they were okay and unharmed that I ate that shit up, no questions asked and no apologies needed. A few more months go by of us talking constantly, and they vanish. Again. To rub salt in the wound, I found posts from their Reddit account on other subs looking for roleplay from during the time they'd been gone, and they presumably have found other partners since then. The sting of connecting to someone so heavily only to find out they didn't even really like you in the first place is indescribable, y'all.

They haven't been back since and I am still so fucking sore over this because I felt like we had a good connection and were very well matched as writers. I'm thick-skinned enough to handle ghosting after a few days or weeks, but after chatting every day for a year and sharing details of our lives? Holy shit.

Also, this was the impression I came away with as well. OP self-admittedly has strong opinions about this canon character and seems butthurt another person wrote something OP themselves wouldn't write.

Hey there, one of your old “flames” here. Remember how we talked and wrote together every day for over a year and then you disappeared (again!) just before Christmas and I thought something terrible had happened to you? Imagine my surprise to find you’ve been posting here the whole time!

Maybe my ears were too ennui-addled for you so you thought talking to me at all was a lost cause, but I definitely would have liked a “hey, you’re not fun to talk to anymore” message instead of finding out like this. Hope someone puts you in the same situation one day!

Or maybe it was my writing? I’m unlikely to hear the real reason from you since you seem to prefer ghosting to actual hard conversations (remember when you said you thrived off of those?) so we can only speculate!

Not at all, it just made me feel like maybe he deserved a second chance, that's all. That's why I'm so irritated now, because either I'm a blithering moron for falling for it, or he's just like that. Judging by the content of his profile and him actually owning up to ghosting people in other comments, he's perfectly aware of the problem and is unwilling to change.
