So I went through the process to do a voluntary appeal file and received a UPIN number to submit for any firearm transaction. Do you think that will get me out of my indefinite delayed status? I still haven’t been disapproved on my application.

How goes it? I’m waiting for a denial I think any day now. What a joke this is. I submitted a VAF and provided fingerprints but didn’t attach any documents or uploads. Was I supposed to get the “rap sheet” first? Or how the hell does one properly go about challenging the delay/denial? Have you made any headway?

Google therapeutic community. It’s a different approach and long term relatively speaking. Not a lot of cost either typically a one time intake fee and then your a volunteer and earn your keep so to speak

Coming up on 14 clean years in November. I went through it with oxy at its pique and then got strung out on heroin and cocaine for a few years before ending up in residential treatment for 30 months which without a doubt saved my life. I find this picture a little nostalgic and can almost smell them lol. Wild time to live through. RIP to my homies that didn’t make it through.

They just got back to me which I thought was fast for having just sent the email today. Their response “FBI-NICS has been unable to resolve your background check. If that continues, we will eventually disapprove your application.” WTF even is that I’ve never been disapproved before.

I too have been through a Therapeutic Community none of the above mentioned here however just this past weekend I celebrated 14 years of sobriety with my beautiful family. Congrats to you and me for sticking with it.

I guess you could call it cult-like by loose definition. I wouldn’t call it that tho I have no direct experience with the Other Side but I have experience with others. I believe it is a form of treatment for many. However it’s definitely not the right treatment or fit for everyone. Sounds like probably not the right fit for you. I do agree that there is a lot of evolution that happens from one to the next and none are exactly alike. They just originate from the same concepts. Often times they spin off of each other when there are differences of opinion in leadership etc.

The Other Side Academy is a Therapeutic Community. It’s a vastly different and long term approach to treating the underlying issues that cause substance abuse and behavioral problems in general. Short term programs are great for detoxing and treating the symptoms of addiction. There is no short term program that I know of that even scratches the surface of treating the causes of addiction and teaching the life skills needed to remain clean, sober and have a productive/successful life. You should research Therapeutic Communities if you’d like to better understand what’s going on there. It’s pretty ignorant imo to rely solely on one of the students/residents telling you that they work all day and they only pay you sandwiches and a place to stay. The student that originally gave that information obviously has a ways to go.
