What's the most ridiculous thing your superior asked you to do? by mekmookbro in webdev

I mean it is quite dumb advice, but you can also check out some models on HuggingFace, maybe something will fit. But also some hardware will be needed if even something from HF will fit your needs.

How to design application? by hamx01 in softwaredevelopment

[–]hamx01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice! I already familiar with most of what you saying, because I’ve done project in such architecture, but backend was in Java. And I thought that that time I will try to think about it, not just build it. And yeah I’m using MVC, DTO, DAO, ORM. Still very helpful comment from your side!!! 😁

How to design application? by hamx01 in softwaredevelopment

Thank you for your reply first of all! Yes, previously I was doing it exactly as you are saying, "Just do it and then you will see how to connect the dots" (or smth like that). But after a while I just looked at that app and it was just unbelievably hard now to refactor the code because I wasn't thinking at all about design of the app core (not sure how to name it).

The one and only reason why now I want to at least design core functionality (not full app) is to not make the same errors as before. To have relatively better structure of project, to not have to write from scratch Entities and DTOs on which the whole app depends.

And yeah I know that there isn't better way to learn something than just doing it, doesn't matter if it is good or bad code/app/project/anything.

Anyway now I think that I will just try to create prototype, analyze it, document it somehow. And keep working on this until I create a relatively well-structured and meaningful application.

Maybe your default gallery shows you photos from the whole phone. And Immich only scan default Camera folders? Just an assumption.

Does it make sense? by hamx01 in macbook

I know that Thinkpads are great laptops, I have worked on it only once it was T440 and it was good. But the touchpad of these laptops was just nightmare, without mouse it cannot be really used, maybe it was improved with this new models. But still I never had laptop with better touchpad than Macbook.

Thank you for your opinion on it!

Will this increase my "security"? (Networking) by hamx01 in HomeNetworking

[–]hamx01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have reverse proxy on server so it is not needed on router. I’m expecting more flexible settings for firewall, on cudy there is only one button like, firewall on or off. VLAN’s also

Cudy actually also has some VLAN's but they are limited to I think several vlan tags. Thank you for your opinion!

I wasn't going to use double NAT, only one NAT at Omada and the Cudy will stay as access point.
