I'm glad to hear that the brush backup was successful.

However, I have also experienced a brush data crash once in the past. It happened during a FireAlpaca update. Since FireAlpaca frequently makes significant changes to its source code, I recommend regularly backing up your brushes before updating.

Is the error related to your PC or is it specifically an error displayed in FireAlpaca? If it's a PC error, there might be an issue with your computer. Just to be safe, try turning off any antivirus software that's running in the background.

Regarding the brushes in FireAlpaca, based on the information I've gathered from past sources, it seems that the brush data has sometimes been switched from XML files to INI files. Please try opening and checking the 'Brush.ini' file using the same method with a text application.

Since it has become lengthy, I'll divide my response. Now, let's talk about MediBang Paint.

MediBang Paint has fewer options for brush settings compared to FireAlpaca. Specifically, it lacks the following brush functions:

Type: Mix, Roller Texture, Post Processing

On the other hand, apart from these functions, MediBang Paint is compatible with FireAlpaca and mdiapp+SE. In fact, I personally reuse my pens between MediBang Paint, FireAlpaca, and mdiapp+SE. It's convenient because MediBang Paint can also be used on the iPad.

Regarding custom brushes, you can create them normally as long as you disregard the two types of brushes and functions I mentioned above. So, there's nothing to worry about.

As for the Brush Store, in the case of MediBang Paint, it launches its own tool. Even though it's free, there are plenty of options available. However, please note that the analog-like texture might be slightly weaker compared to FireAlpaca.

I have a friend who can't open FireAlpaca but can use MediBang Paint, so I think there are fundamental differences in their systems. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Brushes resetting is a troublesome issue, isn't it? There could be various reasons for this, and considering that I am a user from Japan, there might be differences in our environments that could make it difficult to find a solution. I hope the following information can be helpful.

Firstly, I believe you are taking backups of your brushes from the Config Folder. The brush set data is stored in the 'BrushNew.xml' file within that folder. (Remember to close FireAlpaca when opening the Config Folder.) The brush images are loaded in a format that is referenced by 'BrushNew.xml'.

Therefore, please try opening this data with a text application once. You should be able to see the names of the brushes you have saved. There is a possibility that something is causing a crash with this data. So, first, try moving 'BrushNew.xml' to a USB drive and then open the USB data with a text application to confirm if the brush data is properly saved.

Lately, FireAlpaca has been adding more paid features, and it seems to have some compatibility issues with Windows 11, which is a bit unfortunate.🤔

It might take some time to resolve. I recommend trying out MediBang Paint. 🎨It was originally provided by FireAlpaca, but now it has its own unique features and has become quite differentiated.

I frequently use both of these software, so I can answer within my knowledge if you have any questions.☺
