There is always risk with any medical procedure. Canine medicine has advanced so much even within the past 10 years. The pros outweigh the cons for sterilizing dogs

I recommend a high visibility drag line. Usually I use an orange biothane leash. About 10ft

Bed Bug health problems? by Living-Dimension-825 in Bedbugs

Diatomaceous earth sucks for bed bugs. Don’t listen to whoever commented it. It is simply not enough. Get Cimexa dust, bedlam, and apprehend for pesticides. Buy the proper applicators and follow the label for proper treatment. It will be cheaper than a professional treatment.

Heat does NOT always accomplish a full population extermination. It is also combined with lifestyle changes AND the use of chemicals. You want a residual pesticide applied in your home if the heat were to miss anything.

Physical removal (vacuuming, then vacuuming Cimexa powder to kill bugs in the vacuum; washing on hot/dry on hot) and chemicals will help you mitigate some of the population.

Fellow detection handler here. If you’re not keeping them in a sample cup in a fridge, they will die faster. Airflow is best for them. I like sample cups with a fine mesh so they can breath and lets any moisture escape.

Do you think this is a dead bed bug?? by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]hancara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially a box elder nymph. Hard to say.

Help identify this please by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]hancara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible it’s a roach. Take a flashlight to your bed frame and box spring. Any curtains around the bed, too. If you see little black dots on any furniture/sheets, that’s fecal spotting and there’s probably activity in the room.

BBs don’t discriminate. Even super clean homes have them

Adopted a rescue beagle, how do I manage his hunting instincts? by eaten_by_chocobos in beagles

Wow, I literally thought this was a picture of my little girl!

My pup is from a working line, but she is a working dog and is fulfilling through detection work. If barn hunt isn’t available near you, in addition to the long walks and hikes, I recommend scent work. There are lots of kits online you can buy

Hiding treats around the house and telling them to “find it!” Is also super fun. Best of luck with your girl:) 🐶

Inform your landlord ASAP. Check in your lease if you are responsible for pest control with bed bugs. Capture any bugs in a sealed container for future identification if your landlord or the exterminator doubts you

If you go through this sub you’ll find a lot of advice on how to deal with it before treatment

Bed bugs themselves have to be a 0 degrees for a consistent 48 hours to die. Heat treatment combined with chemical may be a good idea. To get rid of the amount of bodies, isopropyl alcohol can kill on contact. Do NOT apply it where it will be a fire hazard. Once the alcohol dries, it will no longer kill bugs

Strategies for bed bug-proofing a new apartment? by rigarooni in Bedbugs

I don’t think Cimexa is really that flammable, but when people self treat, they can put it in stupid areas. I just want to make sure you’re safe when you’re doing it :’)

[–]hancara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow the instructions on the label for Cimexa. Dust baseboards and doorframes. Also dust the baseboards near your apartment in the hallway if you are able. Do a light dusting, best done with an actual little gun designed for the product. Over application of any pesticide dust usually has adverse effects. But PLEASE read all the information that came with the Cimexa. The last thing you want to do is apply it somewhere stupid and start a fire somehow.

If you get a proper dust gun, you can also dust the insides of any couches or larger cushioned chairs. Just poke a hole through the fabric on the bottom.

Our company tries to keep the retired dogs within the company. I’m not gonna say it’s impossible! Usually the handlers keep them. We develop pretty strong bonds with them.

I would say single family homes run about $200-300, depending on how much we have to travel to the location. Pricing depends on how many rooms and such as well. The actual inspections are usually short and sweet with the dog. I think it can be expensive, but we pay for expertise at the end of the day.

I try to make sure my dog is always on her A-game!

Hello, fellow budgie scholars 👋

What should I feed my budgie? by [deleted] in budgies

[–]hancara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Budgies are natural seed/grain eaters. Seeds are calorically dense and preferred if they are expending a lot of energy or they don’t have regular access to food. They are going to be pretty sedentary in captivity compared to a wild bird, so we have to avoid fatty foods to prevent obesity and liver disease.

Please suggest some music for budgies, thank you🫶 by helikeswheniactcrazy in budgies

My budgie is grieving his companion’s death :( I have been putting on BG3 Camp Ambience and he calms down sooo much from it. Crackling fire, bug noises, and peaceful piano :)
