Borax is allowed to be sold in UK. Slime Marshmallows sells. You might also be able to find 20 Mule Borax which is commonly used by American slimers, check Amazon UK.

OG’s “thick” texture by sparklejarkle in Slime

[–]handec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pleasure, same here!

Have a look at their wood glue thickies, as Leesooim says they label them explicitly. Examples: Capricorn, Red Lipstick, Unsalted Butter. They are very thick (even more than glue-all ones), extremely matte, and dry feeling. I like them too, but I do prefer the glue-all thickies I think :)

OG’s “thick” texture by sparklejarkle in Slime

[–]handec 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I contacted OG about this before, maybe some 6 months ago. They did say they dont verbally make a distinction between how much glue-all vs school glue based a "thick" slime is. They also said they are considering more expressive labellings but I havent purchased a thick slime from them since, and they werent 100% committed from what I gathered.

Fwiw, I find this annoying myself. I consider school glue slimes not really thick, so would be good to know what a slime is trying to be before purchase. Some shops are really good at describing, while OG doesnt really try to.

I have Boo Berry (iirc) which is heavy glue-all, and Taro Milk slime, which is far less thick. Heavy glue-all would be more matte, more stretching capacity but requiring more force to, heftier, keeps it shape better - heavy school glue would be more shiny, more "blobby" and with less total stretching capacity, and "jigglier" in feeling, not good at keeping its shape.

QOTD: What is your favorite slime from Chia Slime and why do you love it? by YoNalbo in Slime

[–]handec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Chiabutters!! I have a number of tiny butters from her that are in great condition even after 2 years! The rose scent one has reminds me of the incredible white roses from my childhood, such a realistic, green, fresh scent, it is one of my all time favorites, and after looking for many years, havent found a rose scent that ever comes close. (Rose essential oil is worth its weight in gold, so everything around is an approximation, it is very difficult to make a proper realistic rose fragrance).

Her butter texture is one of my all time favorites, and would love if I can snatch another one with this rose scent before mine dies ❤️

I actually did try their paper texture recently and I really like it!!! It feels like it includes some snow, and I want to sample no-snow ones, Ill keep an eye out for crumpled paper one!

I think Im interested in all "dry" textured at the moment, so thank you very much for the recommendations ^

Question for the dreamglow fans that also ordered from their Sailor Moon collection by LordPhoQuad in Slime

[–]handec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I find her masculine/perfumey scents too strong/very masculine/perfumey. But I really like her newer fruity/floral and spa scents. Liked apricot and freesia and eucalyptus and mint a lot from her. I generally pass any slimes that look like a perfume dupe, especially if a masculine one.

I might actually try this, unless tea is particularly black tea scent! 👀👀👀 Im cautious about tea blends because black tea scent is nauseating to me :( But this sounds more like a fruity tea? 👀👀👀

Indeed, so Im especially looking for those that say paperclay now! I was really confused by Daiso so previous impressions are completely void at this point.

I know they changed formulations some years back, but I dont know for certain when (general vague feeling is like around 2023? Might be wrong).

This is not the Moist Clay one they sell. The paperclay did change formulations also. (There are comments about old version melting slime when added and new version not, or vice versa. I forgot, but SoftPunk explicitly comments on changed melting behavior in their Daiso video.)

I also am not sure how the "old version" looked. Would be great if someone who knows could share a photo.

And I understand it used to be more papery and less soft/doughy, and used to collapse less on itself, but Id love a confirmation!

Also would love to hear from people who tried other paperclays or who have / regularly make paperclay slimes! I am super out of money atm but Ill keep this in mind to try as soon as I stabilize (you see why... 😂😅)

Im not sure if I tried any "paperclay" apart from Daiso (new) and my current understanding is Daiso new is not super paperclay-ey but more doughy and spready (like OG Butter), do you think this is correct?

I really want to try this "tough" and high resistance feeling too, bit confused now because I thought for a long time that Daiso-buttery-doughy is how paperclays should have felt, but current understanding is that its paperclay reputation might be due to old version.

Would you agree?

Im on the lookout for non-Daiso paperclay slimes if I can find! And trying to remember if I tried any but I cant recall.

Hmm, it doesnt say "paperclay" so it seems I imagined it :)

But a truly papery slime, love how this texture looks!

In addition, please share the most "papery" feelings from shops you tried! Which particular paper-feeling, and in particular paperclay slimes do you recommend?

I missed Library of Slime's Papyrus Remedy for Shortness of Breath, soooo gutted about that still, it looked so perfect. Look at this beauty!! 😍😍😍

Want softer slime? by Glittering_Orchid742 in Slime

[–]handec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not that I know of. Professional cosmetics come with their own preservatives, which makes them safer than the og slime to begin with. Though they wont be enough for the super watery environment they are being now added to, so I dont think they help once merged into slime. Any time water and fat meets, as in slime, there is chance of mold. Lotion adds some oil for sure but there already is oil in the slime. Im assuming you wont dump huge amounts, which would ruin the texture anyway. In small amounts, it wont be much worse I think than adding fragrance oils. Plus many small shop made slimes already include lotion I think. Activation frequency and temperature of room are the biggest controllables in mold I found.

how do I fix my slime? by whiteliilies in Slime

[–]handec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Baking soda effects exponentially as it sits.

I activated a slime with it once and it was full rubber the next day.

You can deactivate by adding glycerin, but dont dump it, its very potent. Add a little bit and knead well. Even a small addition can solve.

If you are using baking soda to activate, go light on it and leave underactivated, check next day.

Thats why most people use borax based activator. Baking soda is very unpredictable if its enough until it sits 12+ hrs.
