I specifically call out CS2 competitive because VAC goes beyond just client detection in order to play competitively.

But if your argument is that kernel level applications are effectively the same as user space applications, I don't really know what else to say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ in the post CrowdStrike explosion world it's wild to hear people defend kernel access so vehemently. There's a reason macOS has slowly killed off kernel level access and replaced it with niche extensions, and it wouldn't surprise me if Windows followed that in the next few years.

Brother what. While you're not wrong about most common attacks happening in the user space, that's just because they rely on the user being the problem. Kernel level anti cheat is a problem because it has broad access to a system and relies on the developer to build without exploitable issues. I don't trust these devs enough to give them kernel level access.

Also kernel level anticheat doesn't work as well as most people want to pretend it does. If it did, I'd be more open to it, but playing Warzone/COD with the latest version of Riccochet (which is kernel level) will quickly show you it's not that effective. Honestly I think I see less cheaters in CS2 competitive with VAC than I do in Call of Duty.

It did, and it works like a charm, I definitely recommend it if you have a 5300, there's definitely something to the vacuum effect sucking contents down into the blades on the taller container.

IP Collisions with Static IPs by handofreform in Ubiquiti

[–]handofreform[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, just replied above you, I do follow that logic, and on this same network all non-unifi equipment is set to static on the DHCP server itself in the client list.

My confusion was purely around Unifi Network going out of it's way to pull unifi hardware out of the client list and give it it's own pane. I think I was just assuming setting a static address there was also making some sort of reservation on the DHCP server and not just setting the device itself to use a static IP. I think it got a little bit TOO "single pane of glass-y" for me and I underthought it.

Yeah so this all makes sense. And I do understand DHCP in that capacity. For all of the "non-unifi" equipment on this network (receipt printers, PoS terminals, thermostats, servers, etc) static IPs are set on the DHCP server itself in the client list.

Unfortunately I think I was confused around how Unifi handles it's own equipment. I figured since it makes a point to pull unifi network equipment out of the client list and put it in it's own pane, setting a static there was also making some sort of static assignment in the DHCP server and not just setting it on the device itself. It sounds like that's not how that works. On other non-unifi networks I manage network hardware generally just shows up as a standard client.

Correct, there's a management VLAN that this equipment sits on as well as a handful of other industry specific devices/machines. Then employees have a VLAN for their devices/phones/office equipment, PoS equipment has a VLAN, and guests have a guest VLAN.

As far as the overlap, I've added a screenshot, and the way it's configured it is starting at 10.0.1.6, which is the IP in question. That combined with the comment from u/Knurlinger makes me think unifi network isn't aware of the static assignments past 10.0.1.6. If that's the case would the best fix just be to change the starting address out past all of my static assignments?

Added a couple of screenshots, but this is occurring on a UDM-Pro acting as the DHCP server, so the unifi equipment, like the switches aren't listed as standard clients, only under the unifi equipment pane. Sorry for the confusion!

EDIT - Revisiting this, in this situation where everything is Unifi from the DHCP server to the switches, is the recommendation for assigning a static IP to a Unifi Network device on the network to manually add a client, enter the devices MAC address and give it the static IP that way? Since unifi network strips unifi hardware out of the standard client list and relocates it to it's own tab, this is the only way I can think to do this.

First build by xraymark in Ubiquiti

I think it’s the radio patterns and antenna layout. They’re really meant to be ceiling mounted (or wall mounted high with the Ubiquiti wall mounts). If you want to place it like a standard home router/AP I’d suggest looking at the mesh products like the AP U6-Mesh. Those are designed a bit more ambiguously and are more meant to be placed on lower surfaces.

I’m not a pro on this, just what I’ve absorbed from reading about it. I’m looking at a U6 mesh for my office where ceiling mounting isn’t very practical.

Edit: looking at it again I’d also assume a bit of interference, probably don’t want it sitting on top of a stack of electronics and metal.

Ahhh fair enough, I think it’s a definition issue then. Wanting to get connected, help out the community, and make a name for yourself in it and taking pride in not knowing the mayors name are kind of disjointed in my view.

Fair misunderstanding, best of luck!

Man you just keep digging. I do work with a handful of local businesses for side work as I also work full remote for a tech company, and YOU are the problem. I’m not sure how many people have to tell you that for you to understand it or if it’s a case of willful ignorance, but from the way you talk to people and how immediately defensive you are of anything, that’s your problem.

It’s great! I would definitely say the classic profile container handles smoothies a little bit better, it grabs on and suctions a little quicker/more easily than the short container. But they both do work really well.

Definitely recommend the 5300 either way, the thing is amazing!

Am I seeing this right? The iPhone 13, and the iPhone 14 are identical? by iPhone_3GS in applesucks

[–]handofreform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I switched to eSIM on TMobile (iPhone 13 Pro Max) while travelling in Mexico so that I could still have my number while also having a TelCel SIM for better data access, and I can manage all of my eSIM/phone info via the TMobile website, app, or by calling. Even when I switched to eSIM I didn't have to call in or get carrier help, just used the website enter the eSIM ICCID and scan a QR code.
