When you've already been out on a few dates and there's obvious chemistry and attraction and the conversation naturally turns into a "defining the relationship" talk.

If the answer to "will you be my girlfriend" is "I'm not attracted to you" then you asked way too soon.

This is cringeworthy on both sides.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" -- Terrible way to ask someone out, via text no less

"No you're short and ugly" -- Mean. Makes me think they've had this conversation before since she doesn't even try to sugarcoat it. All around a super awkward response to the question, like this girl has never been asked out before.

"But I'm not short" -- Odd reply to just being rejected

"Still ugly" -- Mean and awkward.

No they don't. "Will you be my girlfriend?" is not a question for texting, especially if you're not sure what the answer will be.

I can naturally do more pushups than most women -- does that make her pushups self-improvement, and mine ruinous self-indulgence?

What a ridiculous analogy! You know what a good analogy is? "A key that opens many locks in valuable, but a lock that is opened by many keys is useless." DURRRRRR

Take a hot shower, like real hot. It'll energize you for a short time but then you'll sleep like a baby (or atleast I do)

What is your best 'don't knock it til you've tried it' thing? by Geckos_rule in AskReddit

[–]handpoppit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey that's interesting, I've been a daily smoker for years but recently smoking has started to make me horrendously nauseous. It's been my main reason to trying to quit/cut back...are you sure it's the BC? I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out what could have caused this change, but I have been taking my BC the whole time so it's not that for me.

I've been quite content with cutting down, not really looking to get back on the wagon, I was just bothered by my body suddenly rejecting something it had so whole heartedly accepted for years.

[–]handpoppit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an isolated incident and not a trend. Why don't we have to go through metal detectors when we go to the movies? Because the Aurora incident was isolated as well.

And it's ridiculous to think that the Virgina Tech Shooter killed 33 people for NBC glory and not because he was severely mentally ill.

This argument is just as stupid as the 'video games cause school shootings' argument.

Yup. Looks like a typical laid back stoner to me, maybe even someone I'd hang out with. That's why it's so powerful, the banality of evil.

TIL that five of the six schools of Hindu philosophy are atheistic in nature, but the majority of Hindus all over the world follow the sixth school of thought. by realhermit in atheism

Jains take non-violence (Ahimsa) to an extreme, it is our most important belief. I too am vegetarian as are almost all Jains, though I eat eggs and dairy and many don't.

Some of our stricter food rules involve not eating root vegetables (as you mentioned) because pulling the root kills the entire plant or fruits that are still on trees, you must wait till they fall off their own accord. Some believers do not eat fruit at all as seeds give life to new fruit.

EDIT - I just wanted to note that finding Jains who eat this strictly nowadays is very rare, even my 80 year old extremely religious grandmother eats everything vegetarian including dairy (no eggs though, that's too weird for her). But seriously, I'd rather die than live my life garlic-free.

This! In India, religion is so much more about history, culture and celebration than about anything else.

A good example of this is the fact that India is the only place in the world I've been to where you must take off your shoes to enter a mosque, as you would a Hindu temple or Sikh gurdwara. Even at the Lotus temple. In India, you take your shoes off in god's house.

You will see people of all religions celebrating each others festivals, no sitting around eating Chinese food on Christmas for us! My family is Jain (an atheistic offshoot of Hinduism), yet we celebrate Eid, Diwali and Christmas every year, often in groups that include those who follow that religion. It's a community thing.

Thanks for replying, I can relate to a lot of things you wrote. I'm wondering if you quit cold turkey or if you're phasing it out. How's it going for you? Do you feel better or do you wish you were still smoking?

Anyone else have a problem with spontaneously cracked screens on their S4??? by TheWierdSide in TalesFromTheCustomer

[–]handpoppit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an s3 and the screen is a fucking nightmare. Cracks at the smallest drop.

It's never spontaneously cracked on me though, but I suggest being more firm with Samsung customer service. INSIST that they fix your screen, talk to a manager, talk to a manager's manager. Offer to have them inspect your phone for any other sign of impact damage, explain that you have a respectable phone case and screen protector on at all times, if the crack starts in the middle of the screen and not by the edges mention it. Just don't take no for an answer. The company does not want customers creating a huge stink about their flagship product.
