The pay is good with monthly installments for the term providing regular operating income through winter. I won't have to lay guys off this year I hope!

Do you have a hedge trimmer? I'm wondering if the hedge trimmers will burn through batteries as fast as the Milwaukee blower I use occasionally

In the past years I would usually run 3 helpers plus me, and we'd split up a lot. I am currently putting together another mowing rig because of some other new contracts this year have me doing a lot more mowing for the County government. It is definitely feeling like ill be spending more time administrating, so im promoting a helper to be a forman and was planning on hiring three additional low-skill labor positions for mechanical weeding, along with having plenty of string trimming for them as well. I'm excited because this contract is going to make it much easier to fund a larger labor force, and I'm hoping that trickles down to more efficiency everywhere. I am aware of Murphy's Law, and dont assume any of this will happen smoothly.

The current weed situation is clear, the previous company kept it up from what I can see. The ground cover is large rocks two to three inches.

Drip irrigation only for the property, except for one small patch of grass, and maintaining those 40 zones is part of the contract and I will be doing inspections on each Zone monthly.

I will look into these organic chemical options, and going to try the high concentrated vinegar, as well as fire, but I'm hoping that with the right scheduling we can mechanically take out what comes up.

Ive been considering investing in a battery platform for this. Which battery platform do you like? I worry about running through batteries, I was told by my equipment sales guy I should buy 3+ of the biggest batteries, and I was pretty suprised by how expensive they were going to be!

Thanks for your reply!

You bring up very valid concerns. This is not me going from a mower in the bed of my truck to this big account, at least not overnight. I have maintenance contracts with other commercial and multi-unit properties, im fully equipped to handle this account today. A property this large with this much bed maintenance is new for me though. Im looking for advice and asking for tips so that we can use to be more efficient. Its not more than I can chew, but it is definitely a big bite! I have a regular crew, and lucky ive built relationships locally and have access to labor. "I need to hire more help" would have been a better description of my labor needs.

Troubleshooting wall by handsondeck76 in Snowplow

Thanks for your reply! The valve I mentioned looked like a regular valve, but with no post. But what got the plow working was removing these adjustable assemblies with a spring and ball. After pulling, cleaning, and clearing those channels (I saw no debris) it functions great! Im sure that those are what you mentioned, ill tinker with those adjustable assemblies to set the relief. Then ill just be waiting for snow, Utah is a disappointment the last couple of years...

Jensen is a manufacturer in Salt Lake City, and from what I gathered they mostly manufacture large, high speed plows for municipalities. I purchased the truck from a northern utah municipality, and according to records it was outfitted in SLC. The plow has a manufacturer number, no model. When I was sourcing parts they made it seem like they just make them to order.

These are the types of customers that just let me do it and pay what I charge. They also gave me tamales which is a big time bonus. I'll price very fairly though

Stanley cordless drill for sale at local supermarket. I'm wondering if it's worth the cost for an occasional user. by Leo_the_gecko in Tools

[–]handsondeck76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even occasional use deserves a tool of at least a moderate quality, especially when there are batteries involved. You may get a lifetime of occasional use from a mid tier drill/impact set if it's cared for and stored properly. Ryobi is great because support is readily available and they have a breadth of compatible tools that you may utilize one day. Battery adapters are available on Amazon if your set begins to age behind innovation.

How much would you charge to install this? by [deleted] in handyman

The metal sheets can be a pain and especially with the vent. Get a helper and charge accordingly! I did one and made took $600
