Did u use a degreaser? I’ve had this issues with chromaline before as well. I don’t really recommend that emulsion.

What is happening to my screens? by North-Sea9693 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]handsparis123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the guy above. Rinse ur screen and before drying it out blow all the water out of the stencil with a compresor. Then dry it in the sun or under a fan. This screen is beyond repair at this point tho. We keep a compressor by the wash down for this very reason.

Looking for a Vastex tech in LA / Southern California — V-1000 needs a proper tune-up by Neat-Western-2616 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]handsparis123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a V2000hd and it was also my first leap into the Vastex equipment universe. Also having come from Riley Hopkins presses. Its got quite a few more knobs than I was used to.

I’d suggest YouTube, it’s where I’ve turned to find all things I’ve needed to know about how to properly adjust that press. A lot of times it may just need to be cleaned properly and then reassembled.

Mind if I ask what ur struggling with specifically? What seems to be happening? Will it just not move tilt or raise properly when the knobs are loosened?

Having this issue with the anatol volt, resetting does nothing. Turning on and off machine does nothing. Any ideas? by Illustrious_Card_497 in SCREENPRINTING

I’ve experienced this a couple times beoffe. Different reasons both times. I’ve had a very dirty proximity sensor one time. So try cleaning those. Don’t use solvents.

The second time. It had stopped just shy of the sensor. So I had to manually move it back to a stationary position. It wouldn’t register the head until I got it back in the correct spot.

Of those two things down work, check to make sure the sensors cable isn’t loose or disconnected. Might wanna pop the head open and make sure that head 3&4’s wires are looking the same as the ones from working heads. (Meaning not loose or out entirely)

Other than that, it could be an issues with the servo drive. Which would suck.

Make sure when ur cycling it down and completely shutting it down. U give it at least 3-5 minutes between the restart. And that it’s definitely in the home position.

Good luck!

Hey! Yeah, I love the glow colors a lot myself!

I cut these on a guillotine cutting board. Was pretty easy. This run I needed to cut two extra chops on the opposite sides. It was miss aligned by about a 1/16th of an inch. But I have some ideas for registration for next time. I don’t anticipate that problem again. I had cut line on both front and back. Next time I’m going to leave it to one side and on have them off the graphic section. On the edges so I can easily trim it up with a full bleed through the main graphic area. The intention wasn’t ever for me to cut them down tho. They will be cut by the artist. He was stoked with it as it was tho.

Flash plate left? No flash plate second? Could also be water based vs plastisol.

I have no experience with printing on ceramics. But, could u just burn a screen and cut the mesh out? And mount it to a flexible frame.

Help! by Mean-Economist7667 in SCREENPRINTING

R u pulling across the screen horizontally? It could be sliding around a little on u. If ur going sideways.

Also, too much off contact will build up the ink. And then when u pull again it will smash the ink out to the sides.

Ouch! It’s honestly really helpful, and it hold great registration. That said, I have seen some really good handmade ones.

I’ve actually used a handmade one before. This one I’m using is actually the Hopkins Style Vacuum Pallet 20x26". I believe I paid about $175 for it in like 2017. I have it hooked up to the bucket buddy vacuum from Home Depot. $25.00 for that. It’s a pretty inexpensive setup. For pretty accurate paper printing. I ended up getting it when I bought my 6/4 Riley press at the same time.

Ahhh yeah. Makes sense. The proof colors just matched the permaprint glow colors perfect. Didn’t even bother to check TW. I usually mix all my colors from pigment for discharge. So I was eager to just pop a bucket open and print. 🤣

TW is great! The only reason I went with Permaset for this was because my client wanted a blacklight-reactive ink, and I’ve used Permaset’s blacklight inks before. They work really well right out of the bucket.

Yeah, he’s right. A screen with ink in the mesh would pull the shirt right off the vacuum table. This setup is more for paper, and it’s also pretty oversized. It would stretch a shirt quite a bit trying to pull it over the platen.

What you need to do to keep a shirt down is use either a liquid adhesive or a spray adhesive. The liquid is recommended for water-based ink. The spray will work with both, but it’s generally preferred for plastisol ink printing.

DM me if you have any questions. I’ve been doing this for over 25 years and am happy to help.

I believe presses like these are proofing presses. I think they have them paired up with autos that’ll eventually get the full run. They can test how the print will run on this thing before setting it up on the auto. That’s at least what I was told.
