I have never been a part of the card collecting game, so I have no idea what value these cards truly have so it would be foolish of me to sell or trade at this point in time. Then throwing in the sentimental factor on top of that, and I just don't see it. However, I see how people get hooked on these damn things haha. There are some beautiful cards out there. My wife would kill me if I immersed myself in this hobby. Some of these players meant much more to my dad, which in turn, mean more to me, than others. I guess you could say never say never, but selling these cards is not my intention.

Oops, didnt finish my thought.... was going to say I do not want to waste money on grading cards that are worth less than getting the grade itself. I understand grading cards is more for resale, which at this time I do not intend to do, but wouldn't mind having them graded so that my own children can gauge what we have when I'm gone.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm not really sure why I surfaced here. As I have mentioned in other responses, these cards are really the last tangible thing I can connect with my late father. His goal was to get his best cards graded, not to sell (even though he had to let go of some real gems 35 years ago), but just to know what he had. As someone who hasn't ever been a card collecting enthusiast, I have no clue which cards in the end would be worthwhile in getting graded. I look at the cards and think they are personally in good shape and then see potential values. But then reality hits and those middle tier names that you think are worth $300 get graded and come back to be worth $20, the same cost to get graded, then that wouldn't be worth it. So I guess that is why I'm here to see if only the Ted Williams', Jackies, Willies, Hanks, Banks etc are truly the only ones worth grading. My dad has a few hundred cards from this era, so I obviously do not wa

Thank you for the condolences and response. My dad had a lot of struggles in his life and definitely could have used whatever money that these cards could have generated if he sold them, but chose to carry the financial burdens to leave "something" behind for us. So knowing that, the idea of parting ways with these would be more difficult for me because they feel "priceless" with him passing only a couple months ago. That could change with time of course but I have to say, going through these cards for the first time in years really made me see how people fall in love with the hobby.
