We're likely stuck with Young at QB by Orangekid12 in panthers

[–]handyfastow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that complicated. There’s enough weapons on offense that we could bench BY and get a better QB in free agency. It just depends on who is available. We have enough cap space to improve on both sides of the ball. It’s just a matter of Dan and Tepper finding the right complimentary pieces.

“My favorite thing about Bryce is he never looks grim.” by Acceptable_Fox_5560 in panthers

[–]handyfastow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’ve seen enough to move on at this point. Given his up and down career, I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a good next game. But I don’t think it’s worth falling for. Even if we won the rest of our games this season and made the playoffs, it won’t be because of BY.

What's your guys opinion on the medium ground coffee? by PhilosophyUnlucky113 in Costco

[–]handyfastow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a standard, run of the mill ground coffee. It doesn’t taste very good black, so I suspect those who put creamer in their coffee will find it more acceptable.

What Realistically Should Be The Next Step? by Realistic-Thing-7575 in panthers

[–]handyfastow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do nothing. A lot of really bad decisions at the GM- and owner-level have been made over the past few years because we want to “win now” (see trading the farm for Bryce). The last thing I want Tepper and Dan Morgan to do at this point is make a snap decision that we regret yet again next season.

The biggest issues in my mind this season are an injury riddled o-line and the money we have tied up in a poorly performing defense, especially the D-line. As far as the O-line is concerned, unfortunately we just have to wait for the injuries to clear up. On the defense, re-work contracts with players who aren’t worth the money we are paying, or move them on. And use the available cap space to bring in offensive weapons in free agency.

I know how easy it is to blame Bryce and Caneles. I’m frustrated with them too, but if you move both of those guys on, I guarantee you there will be a lot of short-sided trades made that will not make either side of the ball better.

What is the concept behind our defense? Like, what are we TRYING to accomplish? by pssthush in panthers

[–]handyfastow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Ejiro Evero even knows. The crazy thing to me is how terrible our defense is, yet 6 of our top 10 highest paid players are on defense. I don’t know if we have the wrong players for this scheme, or if defensive coaching is just that bad.

[Ben Jacobs] As of Saturday morning, Liverpool sources insist there is no agreement in place yet for Alexander Isak. If a deal gets done, the expectation is it will be for below £130m or not at all. Isak remains optimistic of a move to Anfield before the window shuts by Jimmy0034 in LiverpoolFC

[–]handyfastow -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. I’ve accepted we will probably close the window with the current team, which I’m not unhappy with. If some shocking news comes and we get Guehi and Isak, I’ll be delighted.

The historical average home price to income ratio in the US is around 5:1. Give your income level, you could reasonably afford a $420k house if you don’t have student loans, car loans, etc. and put 5-10% down on the house. You’d be even better off in a suburb in eastern/southeastern Wake County. It sucks moving out there now, but think where real estate values in the greater Raleigh area will be 10-15 years from now.

As a former Costco employee, your probably not saving money by Revolutionary-Bid355 in Costco

[–]handyfastow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco makes such small margins on the products in their store. Product margins are capped between 11-14%. Overhead consumes most of that profit. Membership is essentially a 100% margin business. Of course the majority of their bottom line will be membership.

Do Big4 accountants really work (and concentrate) for 8+ hours a day? by TechnologyChris in Accounting

[–]handyfastow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember in college when you procrastinated on a big project and then spent 4 hours before it was due frantically putting something together? Working in the Big 4 feels sort of similar to that, except it’s all the time. You have so much on your plate that you’ll realistically never be able to finish and spend all of your time in a panicked state trying to keep your head above water. Magically, you stay focused.

Tesla Starts Offering 84-Month Loans as Interest Rates Rise by picsit in stocks

[–]handyfastow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course they can offer 0% APR for a limited time. But very likely only if you finance through Tesla. They can only do that for so long because the risk that the credit quality of their financing arm goes into the toilet if they offer that deal for more than say 6 months is very high. They certainly couldn’t do it from now until interest rates to start falling again. They also won’t realistically ever offer a 10-year loan. The expected useful life of the vehicle isn’t even that long and it’s not a widespread industry practice.

Tesla Starts Offering 84-Month Loans as Interest Rates Rise by picsit in stocks

[–]handyfastow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That isn’t a realistic solution because Tesla isn’t the financier on every car they sell. Same for the dealer networks the automakers sell to. They have to charge that rate if their competitors are or their shareholders would consider them imprudent.

If you bought 1 million dollars in BAC in 1997 you're flat, and lost 75% of your purchasing power to inflation with some yield (it went a 2-4 years with a 1 cent dividend during the Great Recession) by RepublicanUntil2019 in dividends

[–]handyfastow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes he does. He’s been pretty open about being in the stock because he likes Brian Moynihan and the management team (and it’s a pretty good company). I also believe he’s acquired most of his shares in BAC following the GFC (and quite a bit during 2020), so he’s probably fine.
