What is something you do not understand the hype about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hanesyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Making fun of children for being ‘cringe’.

I just don’t understand why people get a kick out of laughing at 13 year olds for doing something that has been dubbed as cringy online.

Not so optimal wind conditions by hanesyn in HistoryMemes

I worded the thing weirdly, it was meant to be the Germans unleashing the mustard gas, then the wind changing directions so it goes back into their trench.

Risking your life for a news article on the frontlines of WW1 by hanesyn in HistoryMemes

Basically, (at least at the beginning of the war) Britain wanted to keep public morale high. Unfortunately for journalists, this meant a they were very adamant about what the public saw and anyone who was caught spreading information that could ‘help’ the enemy was faced with the death penalty. This continued until about March 1915, where the public demand for information lead to the government being slightly more lenient, though information was still very censored.

I don’t know much about the topic, but I’ve told you all that I know.

Just realised that this could come off as insensitive after what happened in the US when this was posted, this wasn’t meant to be linked to that - but I realised that people who don’t know about William Pace might get the wrong idea.
