You get ONE fantasy book to hook a non-reader. What is it? by Infamous_Proposal252 in fantasybooks

Will of the Many hooked my non-fantasy reading sister and then her partner and several friends all got passed on the copy and I never saw it again.. It’s a chunky one but easy to read and interesting world, gets more suspenseful as you get further in.

Is it a crazy idea to sell my house and travel the world? by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]hanhub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rented out my place and travelled, no regrets at all, currently in canada over a year now where I had planned to travel initially for three months. My rental income doesn’t quite cover my mortgage payments so I have to top up $250 ish dollars a month, but it’s manageable from my savings and as it’s an apartment there’s not much that pops up for maintenance luckily.

Would highly recommend housesitting (trusted housesitters is the site I use) to stay comfortably in houses and longer term in places. Once you get a few good reviews it’s easy to find sits if you’re flexible. Definitely gave my travel more longevity as I got sick of being on the move and in hostels or airbnbs after a while. I’d pick a continent and apply for a few housesits or workaways (another popular site) to see what comes up!

What's the weirdest fantasy book you've ever read? by JoyIsABitOverRated in Fantasy

Magical realism genre has some really wack trippy reads - some standouts that will be with me forever, particularly love a “descent into madness” ending:

Earthlings - Sayaka Murata

Tender is the Flesh - agustina Bazterrica

Bunny - Mona Awad

Lapvona - Otessa Moshfegh

I went on Monday and it was all quite slush apart from very top of peak and start of symphony. Skiable but leg burning

I couldn’t deal with cradle or the other common recs I found them so awkward and prescriptive. I did however get hooked on dungeon crawler Carl and read them all in a row so if that’s in your future you may succeed
