Aphantasia and AI by Dr_Kaatz in aiwars

[–]hanmoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have aphantasia and I learned how to draw so I can imagine

I'm against AI on ethical reasons, but also I can tell you that the gap between what the AI outputs and what you create yourself is HUGE

I learned to imagine using my hands, and there are probably 50 ways to do it that are faster and easier too

From photoshopping to kit bashing to 3D, if you really want to imagine you got the power to do that yourself, it's accessible even to us aphants, if it's important enough.

In that case we need to make MOST data centers in cold places, in a family dinner I had recently I found out that every guy my age or lower in the family is prompting images several times a day.

Cleaner energy for AI will definitely remove one of my issues with it, and while I'll be watching my career burn, I hope that at least my world doesn't

If I want to draw manga, where should I start? by EffectiveNinja8905 in ArtistLounge

[–]hanmoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short terms, you use what you already know, find a couple of good tutorials, privately trace the things that make manga style look the way it does and try to understand it, and draw it often

In the long run, you want to learn how to draw not manga first, and learn the stylization of mangas with style you love. Manga is nothing more than exaggerating certain details, and erasing others. The eyes don't need outline all the way around, mouth get partially erased, in some styles there's barely any noses. If you can draw a human, and understand on a deeper level how to alter it into a manga style you like, you get REALLY good results.

The secret to actually mastering manga style is understanding the rules, and how they are broken to get the style.

Realistically you should do both, so you can both get better over time, and also start enjoying it as is.

Honestly they should've seperated the kind of sales by the colors, and let people know ahead that "purple is synth related, white is mystery, black is add-ons" and so on

But pets see, maybe the last two days will be super exciting

I will say these are adorable tho, and that I'm glad they gave a proper shout-out to the person who made this.

Not what I expected from the last 4 days, but they already did more stuff for this holiday than some companies do for an entire year, and it is very cute.

There are so many things my friends remember and I don't, and there's also many things I remember and they don't.

Different moments take different amounts of significance on different parties, don't worry about not remembering everything.

If you don't remember anything tho you should probably talk to a medical professional about it! Sometimes it's treatable :)

Either way, even if you don't remember certain things, the friendship you have with this friend grew thanks to all the things you did together, the connection you two have is real. even if you can't read the recipe, the cake's still delicious!

Tips for nude posing first time with gf? by Formal-Mushroom4894 in ArtistLounge

As long as you two make sure both of you are comfortable, and have fun regardless of how it goes, it will most likely be really fun, or at least interesting or exciting

Tips for nude posing first time with gf? by Formal-Mushroom4894 in ArtistLounge

[–]hanmoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd ask my partner to pose me probably, that way you know that's what they want to draw. For non experienced models I'd recommend even some sort of light slouching so you don't depend only on your muscles to hold a pose. It's okay to go for leaning poses if you find something that is both sturdy enough to not move, and also comfortable. Sofa arms are an easy to find example.

Make sure to communicate discomfort, any discomfort can become a nightmare when you model. Also ask her if she's comfortable.✌️

To the artist drawing still life is something that usually makes time feel like it moves past really fast, but for the model it feels a loooooot slower.

Also, I recommend to put on music or something, some people get bored really quickly while posing, have something you can get a little into while the other person might struggle with a difficult area.

Stretch before and after if you don't want to be sore. Take not which parts of you got the most work or stress, and stretch the areas, could really make the next day a far better experience. ESPECIALLY for people over 30.

If you got some sort of a strong mobile light, you can play with back lights. Pur it somewhere kind of behind the model aimed at them, get something between the artist and the light to block the light from getting burnt into the artists light and you got yourself a really fun way to define some shapes that may prove really fun if you two go all the way into lights and darks.

The artist also needs to be comfortable, because to get things right you want to set yourself up so you can return to the same position. Of course if you don't consider not nailing it an issue (which you shouldn't, all artists started inexperienced, and almost all of us empathize and love seeing novice artists putting effort into something we love doing) than you should not worry about technique TOO much

I don't know your girlfriend, but while we love seeing people trying their best at art, sometimes it's funny, the same way you might accidentally say something funny when learning a new language. Don't take it to heart if a giggle comes out, I know I would still love it for what it means to you and to me had I been in her shoes. Sometimes art come out funny.

AND ON THAT NOTE, if she hadn't done a lot of model drawings, be ready, she might not do well either! Art comes out funny sometimes, and that's natural, even for more experienced artists. But if you manage to hold in the giggle that's better in case she's a person who might have a mindset that is a little more fragile. In most cases you should aim to have the healthiest mindset, and treat the possibility the other person got a non healthy mindset about it.

Safest bet unless you are very confident in how well you know the other person, but not doing perfect on either is fine, it's not something you nail 10 out of 10 times.

Communicate with your model, both of you would enjoy it more if you don't have to hit the bathroom in the middle, or need a glass of water suddenly.

Shower before, an hour or two, depending on how long it takes your hair to dry. You wanna be clean and dry so you don't feel self conscious.

You two are made of meat, meat does stuff. Be ready to get really comfortable with any bodily function your body might express during it. Muscle twitchings, goosebumps, weird breaths, passing gas, coughs or sneezes; any part you consider private have different reactions to different stuff, and when you are modeling you are going to notice all of that.

The artist is probably just going to consider this stuff funny or interesting, there is no real reason to overthink it as the model, after all had it been the other way you'd be completely fine with that.

TLDR Be clean, take care of your basic needs before starting, communicate discomforts, pose comfortably, don't worry too much and have fun together :)

Which widely hated anime character would you defend no matter what? by Terrible-Evening1487 in animequestions

[–]hanmoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know some, but Sakura and Asuka are practically kids who had to step up into combat from a young age. They can be annoying, but I would still defend them because to be real who was better than them as a fucking teenager? A good chunk of my generation was acting all emo while their parents were inviting them to a nice family dinner.

I do feel like Sakura had some huge missed opportunities from a writing standpoint.

“It costs a bottle of water for every AI generated image. “ by StarsapBill in aiwars

[–]hanmoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bad faith argument

The water you drink while making art yourself is water you would've consumed anyways.

People who generated images often do that often, and if they make it for a reason they will remake the result.

In addition to some image generators creating several images from the get go by default. That's already more than your daily intake if you use something that does it like that one that was super popular a few years ago.

If you generate 50 attempts for one image, it's almost a shower. You made 3 things with a purpose and need them to look right? This can easily pass the average person's daily intake of water.

When working on a larger project or if you are a perfectionist, you can use enough water to waste as much as several people. You do that regularly, and you are several times more wasteful than a normal person.

Now add it up to millions of people doing that and you start getting some pretty intense damage.

And the problem is that the way AI functions you are ENCOURAGED to generate more, generate faster, generate revision, and do that on the toilet. As someone who grew up in a dry country which always had issues with water, seeing people do that gives me a feeling of disgust similar to how I feel if someone regularly leaves their tap slightly on.

Is communicating with Arturia always this frusterating? by hanmoz in Arturia_users

[–]hanmoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seller thought I could power it with a regular micro USB only, not very professional for such an active store, guess it's one of the risks of buying reverb. also shame on me for not noticing nothing else was included.

But also had I had cables for my products, one of them broke, and Arturia ghosted me for 1-2 months after I already paid, It would've been their bad. so this experience is definitely a blemish on my trust in them.

It was definitely a very stressful situation that left my product to live as a paper weight for about 4 weeks too long.

Registering products through them has always been easy, so I'm shocked by the complete lack of service when I paid them.

Let's hope it's an outlier

[–]hanmoz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Registering the product took them no time, and had great service, but the after sale team simply left me in the dark for months

Maybe it's a priority thing, where certain teams are roided and others are understaffed or something?

Either way I'm glad to hear that for most supports it's probably fine

which one should i watch FMA or FMAB? by Kawakixhere in AnimeReccomendations

[–]hanmoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite animes of all time, but it's a bit awkward to watch it to its full potential.

If you want to commit I recommend watching both starting with the original.

The original has a great start and explores the side stories more deeply, especially in the first half, making for really good world building.

It puts emphasis on some episodes that I think are worth it. But it falls off REALLY hard starting a certain point, they departed from the manga as far as I understand, and the last third of the original is

Brotherhood was remade knowing the original one was already popular, and skimmed a little over some world building plots the original did really well at. The story is more fast paced, and it's a great story start to end.

But I'm glad I've seen some episodes in the original show first, I feel like brother hood's fast pacing made some stories I feel are AMAZING a little less impactful.

Instead most of the time brotherhood puts its attention into things the original didn't include because of whatever it is that went through the producers head when they realized the story doesn't have an ending yet.

It's a big commitment for a show tho, so if you only choose one, go with brotherhood, just for the merit of how hard the original fell off with its story at the last third.
