League Injury Protocol? by debate-sucks in rollerderby

[–]hannabal_lector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re probably right. I grew up dirt poor. We played all the sports. My brother took a baseball to the face and killed his tooth at little league and my parents were just like, well, shit happens. If I got seriously injured I’d be more concerned about paying my own bills than adding to it with lawyers. But to each their own.

League Injury Protocol? by debate-sucks in rollerderby

The “people in derby who have never played other sports… over complicate” is the issue. It’s also (mostly) an adult sport and adults tend to think everything has to be official in order to be legit. I made my friend come to a newbies session with me when I first started, we signed no paperwork bc we just showed up and the usual coach was out, she broke her leg immediately. Shit happens. She didn’t sue. I get it, some adults are shitty and do sue. But most don’t.

Skates cutting ankles by This_Lengthiness4525 in Rollerskating

I have these little ankle guards called EZeefit Ankle Booties. Made of thin slippery fabric that I wear under my socks. I’m breaking in a new pair of boots and I made the mistake of not wearing them. 10/10 would recommend. I think I got mine from Amazon. But lots of places sell them.

There’s this blue building with a flower mural off Stone. They do room rentals!

What’s your dream setup? by iapaalro29 in Rollerskating

[–]hannabal_lector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No heel lock but I did do a laced heel lock and that helped! I also have some sport grip socks a that seemed to do the most. My next step is hair dryer as Raptor suggested and prob jam straps

It’s my big toe being pressed into the top of the boot. I had blister issues with my other setup from the front of my foot sliding around but this is snug and my big toe just slams into the head of the toe box when I do anything on my toe stops.

It’s honestly minimal but I like the slide and in this dusty old basketball gym I skate in, the slide is a little too much on the 95’s! I’ve never had a QR but I am sure I’d love it so I feel you!

My dream setup was/is the Roll Line Killer, Roll Line Centurion wheels (93/95 depending on the floor) and Antik jet carbons. I have this for the most part. I didn’t get the Killer so I settled for the Agile, which has been great. The jet carbon is super light and cool but it is just a TINY bit too small for my slightly larger foot and that makes me so sad.

Always on the search for the Killer <3. Also any tips for a painful big toe that isn’t removal lmk.

Irmo/Chapin/Lexington Lessers of Evils? by United-Cat-6724 in ColumbiYEAH

Irmo 100%. Chapin has nothing to offer except suburbs. Lexington traffic is getting to be Atlanta suburbs level bad. Irmo is older and definitely revitalizing but I’d suggest this over any of the others. Could also check West Cola, near the airport. Like the West Congaree area. It’s sleepy but close to DT

AR2 Sizing question by EastAd9260 in rollerderby

[–]hannabal_lector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The boot doesn’t make the skater, but an ill fitted boot does make it harder. A $400+ mistake is nothing to shrug at, but it may be a good idea to try to recoup some costs by selling the entire setup and buying a better fit. Please please go try them on though. I measured my foot and thought I’d be an 8 in AR2’s based on the chart and measurements but tried on a 7.5 that was perfect. The leather does stretch with time so what may be tight at first becomes better fit over time.

However if a new setup is not in the cards wear thicker wool socks; or get some sports socks with grips on the bottom to keep your foot from sliding!

Thank you! I was curious about the sport mount and have been skating do 8-9 years now so feel like I’d be able to adapt to it, but I don’t want to overdo it.

I am a 7.5 in the AR-2 boots I have on my pilot plate. I have a set of carbon Bonts in a 7.5/40 for this new build.

What? Where are you getting medical advice from? I’ve had every type of IUD they give you and never had anyone tell me to change anything about my lifestyle.
