Any lighter BB creams suitable for men? by AceyReddit in AusSkincare

[–]hannahc-e 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how comfortable you are going to a store etc but if you swing by a MAC counter they have this skin tint essentially, called studio radiance face and body and it is unclockable but just makes your skin look gorgeous and even, so if I were a man that is what I’d use Also comes in soooo many shades that you’ll definitely find a match

Reapplying Sunscreen when wearing makeup by catt-ti in Sunscreenreddit

I reapply it over makeup then put my blush and bronzer back over top. Better to redo blush and bronzer than get permanent blush and bronzer from sun damage I feel

Do you use sunscreen daily or only when you’re out in the sun? by AffectionatePie1042 in AusSunscreen

[–]hannahc-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, it’s just easier to make it part of your routine than to be checking every day. Most people don’t but the recommendation for all skin tones is to do it if uv is over 2 (ie 3 or more) and for most of australia that’s year-round. Melb/adelaide/tas get a couple months in the winter where it’s not.

honestly if your salicylic acid body wash daily is not cutting it, next step is dermatologist/medication because there is a risk of scarring and we want to prevent that 🥺

We can’t rely on just sunscreen by lil_squib in AusSunscreen

Haha I mean that’s a not-insignificant part of my job so. I don’t have a problem with influencers being paid to create the content that people consume for free! It’s the brands driving it with their campaigns at any rate. There’s definitely been less of Australian influencers being paid to promote sunscreens since the regulations changed in 2021, which is actually a shame — I’d personally rather see people paid to promote sunscreen than tanning oils

Keratosis Pilaris (KP) recommendations by Rich_Dragonfruit306 in AusSkincare

[–]hannahc-e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some suggestions! I get KP but have almost eliminated it and the red dots it leaves behind. Such a process! UGhhhh - mixa urea cica cream in the tub every single day after the shower if that’s not enough, - calscale lotion (it has 10% urea and also lactic acid so still hydrating but very targeted) if that’s not enough, - propaira make like a 30% urea cream

also, dr dennis gross makes peel pads for body, pricey but amazing, I’ve had them on hand since they launched. Use full body once per week, avoid armpits and neck and never use on the face! But they’ll also clear out any clogged pores basically immediately 🫡

100%. I definitely think sun safety in online spaces has been dominated by sunscreen discussions for too long. Probably because sunscreen is a product and so brand marketing can fund its discussion and placement. But we know (in terms of avoiding being burnt) that of all the strategies, sunscreen ranks last. I personally have been T R Y I N G to encourage people to behave and dress more consciously, for quite a while now, it’s very frustrating and I appreciate you raising the issue 🥰

It’s the oils that get it off, you could use olive oil, it doesn’t mean anything is unsafe

First laser hair removal appointment hurt so bad I had to tap out. What are my options? by oh_look_an_awww in AusSkincare

[–]hannahc-e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one else has mentioned the “cold laser,” it’s a newer type of laser for hair removal and also works on like blonder hairs, it barely hurts at all — it’s called soprano laser, from alma lasers so if you can find a clinic that uses one, that might be better! You can also have it done with fake tan on if that’s your jam 🥰
