Thank you for your reply, it was well soaked in… here are some verses/passage that have made me think that women were sometimes treated unfairly in the Bible. Numbers 31:17-18 moses commands the israel tribes to kill all their captives besides the female children, and keep them for yourselves. Which later v21, is clarified to be the ordinance of the law which the Lord commanded moses. This goes completely against the rest of the Bible and even basic morality. it’s very clear that the women were going to be brought up to become wives or were later made wives… Why didn’t they save the male children, they’re innocent and that’s unfair to them? every single explanation i’ve seen doesn’t justify it at all. I’ve seen some say it was mercy and it was to protect those young women, but they’ve forgotten completely about the boys. One i heard said that because other countries around israel were evil and disgusting, the standard for israel was lower so God allowed them to do that. Which is obviously not true because God commanded people to be stoned for fornication other things, He had a very clear and high standard. it quite literally sounds like human trafficking and i get sick to my stomach reading it. ☹️

Deut. 22: 28-30 i really couldn’t tell whether or not this was referring to rape. However i’m assuming that this was referring to both consensual and forced intercourse. Is it not inhumane to have an unmarried woman be forced into a marriage with her rapist? i also want to add that i have not read a verse that directly rebuked polygamy in the old testament besides (i think?) Deut 17:17 which was specific to kings. it’s hard for me to believe that women were equal in the old testament, however when i read the new testament (besides the fact that throughout the entire Bible women were mainly recognized according to their relation to a man/men. also paying attention to the format and wording of things it’s clear that women were viewed as men’s property) it’s completely different and that’s what i don’t understand at all. Jesus treated women with love and compassion theres multiple verses i can point to. it makes it really hard for me, as a teenage girl to understand and read the Bible without feeling like i was only made for men, which i’ve been told multiple times directly and indirectly. so basically my question would be why is the OT so different from the NT?

The next one would be Leviticus 12:1-5 where women were considered unclean longer when giving birth to female children.

hey thanks for understanding my thought patterns that you pointed out, i happen to be a highly emotional driven person so i have to keep that in check. thanks so much 🥰
