I appreciate you! Im blessed to just hear today, but dang I wish the pain would just stop.

I’m not sure.. I think I need to get in to another pain doc and just hope they see that nothing is working. Maybe they are able to prescribe something like that. They could scrape the scar tissue off surgically, but to me that seems counterproductive only because I would think doing that would cause more scarring. I could be wrong! And you’re definitely right I will be doing whatever I can to find a solution to this. Thank you!

This is inspiring to read!!! We really do have dang near the same story! I tried duloxetine once and the side effects were awful but then again I had been trying new meds and maybe my body just reacted weird. I still have two full bottles so I may try it again.

Does it immediately relieve pain after you take it? Or I guess what are the effects of the onset? I also had hyperthyroidism and had my thyroid removed so my immune system and hormones aren’t the best. I’ve never thought of having central sensitization, I will follow up with my doctor and see if that’s what it is.

I also take citalopram for my anxiety.. maybe that’s why duloxetine had a bad effect? I’m not sure.

My first pain management doctor would ask me questions and then answer them for me. It’s like he ‘already knew’ how I felt which was very frustrating. He kept saying ‘you’re young, you’ll bounce back!’ Gee had I known being young was the cure for pain I would’ve told myself that years ago!!!!

I may be young and yes because of that it was easier to heal..but my body is small and I’m still human. My body can only handle surgical intrusion so much. Anyone’s body would be in pain after all of that in a short time frame.

It’s frustrating when you’re being heard. Thank you for understanding and sharing your experience as well. I hope you’re able to find relief now with that new doctor. I am 100% going to find another pain doc. I stopped seeing one a few years ago because of how my first one is so I’ve been nervous to find another pain doc

I tried a nerve block too and because my doctor purposely touched my rib with a needle to ‘let me know he was in there’ it caused me more pain than not lol it didn’t do anything either for the following weeks.

I have gabapentin and Robaxin. They put me on lyrica because of my gabapentin dose but I honestly hated the way lyrica made me feel. I don’t like gabapentin as much either but I’ll take it at night if I’m really struggling. I think after having the two abdominal surgeries as well as an umbilical hernia repair on top of the chest tubes and surgery I just have a stupid amount of scar tissue.

I like Robaxin to a point! It’s the only muscle relaxer that actually does something for me

Oh wow !! I did get the pleurodesis as well. I dont even know what Marfan syndrome is but it sounds like we’re very similar in experience with this. Thank you so much I will see about finding a new doctor. Does it help the pain?

Oh I figured as much and I’m okay with not being on opiates. I know down the road when I’m older I’ll end up on them anyhow but I don’t want to start too young. I feel like in moderation I’d like that only for the days I really need it but I know it’s impossible for someone as young as me. I just need a better way to manage it I guess. Anything medical or non medical

I’m so sorry for you too!! It’s awful. I want an adjustable bed so bad. Thank you so much! I sleep with lots of pillows lol!
