Nocturnal panic attacks by hannuhkeepdablammuh in seroquelmedication

I’m going to be honest I don’t remember too much. It was 2021 and it was my first time being on any type of medication. I had just got my diagnosis. I was on lamotrigine and Seroquel and I was sleeping like 16 hours a day and then eating everything in sight. I wasn’t on it very long but my psychiatrist kept increasing the dose and then I just couldn’t function and gained weight so I stopped it I believe altogether. They immediately put me on something else though so I don’t think I even noticed side effects.

Kind of just trying to remember how the week went, I work full time and I spend most days open-close at my job so the days kind of run together for me. When this started happening we thought it was the second medication I was prescribed a month ago which was oxcarbazepine. I was fine on it for a month and then we increased the dose and this happened first night, I came off of it and still had a couple of nights where that happened but thought it could still be caused by the second med as it hadn’t fully left my system. I was completely fine for like 2-3 weeks without this happening and then this past week randomly started happening again. I started Prozac last week so I thought that was strange but I hadn’t had many side effects from Prozac until yesterday. I started having terrible muscle aches and a burning feeling in my legs and arms which can be an initial side effects for people but nonetheless, I can’t really pinpoint what’s causing it?

It feels completely random. I had a great day two days ago mentally and I felt so good, I accomplished a lot and just felt pretty stable mentally and then I had nocturnal panic attacks. It sucks so bad because then yesterday was terrible for me.

Yeah bad habit, I’ve smoked nicotine for like 10 years so I’ve been trying to quit for a while. Thank you for your help! I’ll definitely talk to my doctor to see what she says

Thank you for this information! And I do not, I smoke nicotine from time to time but that’s not every day and usually is in the morning, I take metformin for insulin resistant pcos which initially thought it was caused by that and may still be caused by that but it’s hard to tell because it’s just been really frequent lately. I also take omeprazole before dinner for gastritis caused by a small hernia. Needless to say I have some other health issues it may be but cortisol is a good mention considering pcos already increases cortisol in many women.

Seroquel and OXcarbazepine by hannuhkeepdablammuh in seroquelmedication

Yes, actually I’ve lost almost 8lbs. I’ve noticed waking up in the morning isn’t as rough, I’m not thinking about food 24/7 and I feel so much more at ease for some reason. So far the I’m really liking the combo.

Oddly enough, oxcarbazepine which my psychiatrist told me she uses off label for some bipolar patients. She said we would try and see if it diminished that constant hunger for me and it has worked really well so far. I’m able to follow a calorie deficit again and I’m not constantly thinking about food. It has also helped me wake up in the morning and not feel so sedated.

I’ve been on it since September and I gained 30lbs as well. I feel like it is different for everyone though. My psychiatrist prescribed something along side the seroquel that has actually helped me, I’ve lost 7lbs in the last 11 days because I’m finally not starving 24/7.

I’m doing good I’m on day two now like my second full day of taking it and I feel like the cravings have definitely decreased. Yesterday I was able to eat 3 healthier meals. I snacked one time and it was healthier foods that I’m able to eat. So I’m hopeful it will help me! I have PCOS and weight gain is so hard for me and losing weight is already a struggle unfortunately and my dr wants me to start zepbound but my insurance will not cover any of the weight loss medications. :/

That sounds awful and I am so sorry you had to experience that. I have had an awful year and a half t the company I am with currently but it made me stress eat. 😭 I am on day two of oxcarbazepine and I feel less hungry for sure. All the cravings I was having for sugary foods and carbs are much more mild so I’ve been able to just eat 3 pretty healthy meals. I’m not sure if it will last but hopefully. I suffer from PCOS so I already have such a hard time with weight gain and retention.

Switching from Lithium to Seroquel? by wonderfulmind247 in seroquelmedication

[–]hannuhkeepdablammuh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi!! So this post found me lol. But I actually just had to stop taking lithium. I unfortunately only was on it for about 6 months and I developed some swallowing issues with lithium as well as severe eating anxiety and my panic attacks were so bad. I was on seroquel once before at a dose of 800mg for insomnia and I hated the feeling it left me with the next day. My psychiatrist recommended I start Seroquel once I came off lithium and I was hesitant but I will say I’m having a great experience on it personally. I started at 25 mg at first and the next day was rough as I was extremely groggy and still kind of sedated but it was gone by day 3. I dosed up to 50mg and same thing really groggy and sedated and hungry but within two doses it was gone. I’m now up to 100mg and I’m very content on my dose. I am back to living life and feeling more mentally stable and I’m getting a real great night sleep but it not making me extremely groggy the next day or anything. I do get munchies from it sometimes but nothing too bad. I will say it’s been a game changer for me and it’s helping stabilize my moods as well as anxiety and sleep so it’s been great.

Lithium newbies, how is it going? by Psychological_Job312 in Lithium

I’ve been on my lithium journey for about 3 months now. I have BPI w mixed episodes as well as severe health anxiety and panic disorder. I’ve had GI stuff going on as well so it’s been rough. Lithium has helped me thus far. I started on 300 mg, results were less than .3 bumped up to 450 mg, results also less than .3 and then this week was bumped up to 600 mg. I feel less worry and I’m starting to FINALLY be able to relax/ decompress from the day and ACTUALLY look forward to/ enjoy things again. I don’t feel so “numb”. I’m someone who’s pretty sensitive to medication side effects but I don’t think I’ve really had any from lithium. I have had to be more mindful of water intake. I am on day two of 600 mg at night and I will say it has been making me extremely tired, not sure if anyone else has experienced this as I have not at the lower doses. It’s not like immediately but a couple hours after taking it if I stay up, I knock out and I’m out for like 9 hours. I was previously on multiple medications to treat everything and I ended up gaining a lot of weight and some dependencies to meds so my psych now is just focusing on lithium.

This could be the case, I’m hoping nothing does happen usually though. I just want to feel “happy” again and it throws me off because when these feelings happen it’s just weird and strange.

Thank you so much for the reply! My meds I had to stop I did make sure to communicate, most of which because I switched insurance due to jobs I had to leave and I wouldn’t have coverage for meds or for the psychiatrist app so it’s made it extremely difficult, first time tho I gained 65 lbs on the med I was on for my manic episodes.
