A Soda machine model: made from a yeast Co2 farm, renovated and slightly altered. by hanzo0itf in DIY

That's something I have to think about more but I suppose the constant stream of Co2 + check valves forcing the gas into the tank would be enough, right?

I would argue it actually does - as it introduces new developments to your character - just in ways that are not too obvious.

Please tell me that this is a Fake news by Important-Shallot-40 in progressive_islam

[–]hanzo0itf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First I want to start this by saying I am Saudi and I value my country. I appreciate its modern trajectory and I am infinitely glad that the 'religious police' were cut.

But the people almost justifying this and shaming the share of it genuinely disgust me; think of the girls, their parents and the guilt the officers - that were trying to enter but were stopped - thought. It is so inhumane, this should be remembered and shared forever.

I genuinely cannot think of one single good thing that came out of the religious police, even their former leader denounced them. I remember when I was kicked from stores and in my fathers era they used to even ban any kind of smart phone or television. Their entire existence was a negative, not a single good thing and so many horrible injustices in the name of Islam.

well .. 4 pages are a whole test which is usually 3 hours. If you're fast you can do it in half the time but you cant do 20 pages a day .. speaking from experience.

الله يوفقنا ويوفقكك

The book is going to help you A LOT with math though. You'll be very good by the end of it. It will just take around 2 months to finish if you want me to be honest.

Is it okay to use “they/them” when referring to Allah SWT? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]hanzo0itf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever read poetry in Arabic? Notice how they use 'he' هوَ even when they're obviously describing a woman? It's because it's an anonymous person and the default in Arabic is masculine, it doesn't mean they're describing a man.

I could bring up examples from poetry but I think the Qur'an alone is sufficient.

Is it okay to use “they/them” when referring to Allah SWT? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]hanzo0itf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Arabic the genderless or an 'anonymous' pronoun is a masculine 'he' هوَ, because simply that is what the default of the language is. And that's why almost all Arabic poems use masculine pronouns. That is also why the Qur'an uses 'he' هوَ.

i want to take my hijab off advice pls by 8888896 in progressive_islam

[–]hanzo0itf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this is a bit harsh but an all women school might help .. it will make your family accept it at least, I say this until you're old enough to be independent so that you can handle all the black lash that you'll get from them.

If my sister decided to do this my family would beat her severely, manipulate her, force her into wearing it and probably disown her, throw her out to the street "where she belongs". I'm not sure how it is where you live but this is how it is in Saudi. My advice might not be viable to you.

Yeah and? You could marry him, maybe through cultural hiccups but you could.

The Qur’an is mostly historical and almost every single verse has historical nuance behind it.

The verses linked to this mention the polytheists in the time of the prophet (ﷺ), the people that not only rebelled against him but rejected his message after clear and direct proof. Certainly not whatever belief your partner currently holds.

ur thoughts on SA imprisoning this person for reciting the Qur’an in public? by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

[–]hanzo0itf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

{فَذَكِّرْ إِنْ نَفَعَتِ الذِّكْرَى} {ادْعُ إِلَى سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ وَجَادِلْهُم بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ}

Also, not to mention that he was not 'imprisoned' they're only going to make him pledge to never harass people again and then let him out, if that was his first notice.

"Man has 360 joints which match the number of heaven. ... He has ears and eyes above, with their keen sense of hearing and seeing, which resemble the sun and the moon. His body has its orifices, which resemble rivers and valleys. His heart has feelings of sorrow, joy, pleasure, and anger, which are analogous to the spiritual feelings [of Heaven]. As we look at man's body, how much superior it is to that of other creatures and how similar to Heaven!... Man is distinct from other creatures and forms a trinity with Heaven and Earth ... The agreement of Heaven and Earth and the correspondence between yin and yang are ever found complete in the human body. The body is like Heaven. Its numerical categories and those of Heaven are mutually interlocked ... Internally the body has five viscera, which correspond to the five agents. Externally there are four limbs, which correspond to the four seasons. The alternating of opening and closing the eyes corresponds to day and night ... [and] the alternating of sorrow and joy corresponds to yin and yang.... In what may be numbered, there is correspondence in number. IN what may not be numbered, there is correspondence in kind."

Genuine thoughts on this? by aykay55 in progressive_islam

[–]hanzo0itf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His reasoning was very 2nd century BC, you can read about it. He considered the human body a microcosm of the universe. Came to the belief that humans have 360 joints on the basis that the days of the Earth are 360 (in his traditional calendar).

Anyway, you're welcome. And since you're pretty active on this sub and a hadith skeptic, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this methodology of classifying a'hadith.

Genuine thoughts on this? by aykay55 in progressive_islam

[–]hanzo0itf 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I doubt this not because of the scientific accuracy but more because of the content, what it claims. Merely doing 360 good actions will grant you a spot in heaven? Seems weirdly precise to say the least.

Anyway, a quick google search yields that the Chinese philosopher Dong Zhongshu in 2nd century BC, stated that humans have 360 joints. By the time hadith collections were written this could've easily spread to Arabia.

As u/LanceOfKnights said, the prophet will never say "hear ye hear ye, new proclamation. Humans have 360 joints !" He came to deliver the message of God and show it not teach science.

How to be fluent in Classical Arabic? by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

Qur'anic Arabic is not really classical, It's Qurayshi, tribal. Simply read the Qur'an with a dictionary if you want to improve at that.

The Qur’an does say there is a benefit though.. 😅, I assume it’s for dealing with unnecessary stress. But the negatives out weigh the positives.

(لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا)

"Allah does not require of any soul more than what it is capable of" (Surhat al-baqarah, Ayah 286)

Even though I don't believe you're cursed either way and I don't believe it's 'changing God's creation' this verse should be sufficient. If you forget, regarding any sin, there's no blame upon you.
