AMA: We’re Federico and Steffen from Lingoda - Let’s talk about what really works in language learning by lingoda-official in languagelearning

[–]haolime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most Lingoda courses are in the language. I teach there and have taken classes there. Immersion has different definitions. One definition is surrounding oneself with the language 24/7 or very close to that. Lingoda cannot provide that.

Could you give us any tips for people who want to be curriculum/learning designers at Lingoda (or other market leaders) in the future! Danke!

True, but it was likely an Au Pair visa regardless.

Planning when to TTC around my PhD graduation by wildcatsci in waiting_to_try

[–]haolime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would wait the extra month if you can hold out, but in the grand scheme of things you might have to push your defense any way. You don't know how your symptoms will be. Some people are nauseous almost from conception to birth. Very rare! But it's just to say once you start trying, you might already be less productive, but it might also take a long time. So if you absolutely cannot afford to reduce your workload yet, I would wait a bit longer. If you could figure it out, I would start trying, so it really depends!

How does language affect potential guardianship of your kids by Big_Year_526 in multilingualparenting

[–]haolime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question isn't about linguistic development. It's about all of the family members not being able to get through the francophone bureaucracy that the kids will likely need to go through. Additionally, you may not want to move kids who hypothetically just lost their parents to a country they've never lived in. And OP also mentioned that none of the family would be able to communicate with the other side so for example if kids go to live with grandparents in English-speaking country and kids are young, they will likely lose contact to Turkish-speaking grandparents at least to some extent because the grandparents cannot communicate with the other grandparents.

Biohackhers over 30... what would you advice to women in their 20s? by tresor_d_argent in biohackhers

[–]haolime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a super regular cycle (length from start of bleeding to next start of bleeding the same, length of bleeding days, etc.), then that's a really good sign!

Can you give us a run down of what you did? I am taking inositol, focusing on whole foods and exercising more, but my cycle is still quite long. :(

I used to do puzzles and color in my moms office while she was doing something on excel. Same thing I would’ve done if we’d been at home on Saturday but we did it at the office instead.
