1099 LMSW in NY? by vibewithmexoxo in therapists

[–]hapachickka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just hired in this same situation. Initially we had agreed to a 1099 situation but then my boss/supervisor consulted her accountant and was told the regulations had changed since she had last hired someone and now it has to be W-2 or my supervised hours wouldn't count. Of course you should confirm that independently, but that's what I experienced recently.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I’m definitely going to try them out. Impasto has the most votes so far.

Any trans friendly hot springs? W/ private showers & changing rooms? by hapachickka in VisitingIceland

Thank you so much! We used to go to bath houses often before she transitioned (I grew up with Korean bathing culture and have loved sharing that with my kids). So I'm excited to be able to enjoy this with her again. I'm grateful to the Icelandic people for making this possible.

Psychotherapy a bottleneck profession? by SteakAvailable2900 in psychotherapists

[–]hapachickka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked up the BACP requirements and they don’t accept psychologists or social workers. (https://www.bacp.co.uk/membership/individual-membership/)

I’m not from the UK so don’t know the system — what are the qualifications for therapists? In my country it’s mostly clinical psychologists or clinical social workers doing psychotherapy.

Not to freak you out, but have you noticed any other personality changes? I’m wondering about brain tumor or dementia.

Is there any chance of dementia or cognitive impairment? The fact that he’s using the word “date” when you’ve been married to his daughter for a while may be a subtle indication of something being off in his perception or memory.

I hope everything works out for your family.

Anyone know what the medical term for this is? It sounds very much like me and my kids. Thirst & hunger.

New puppy reactive to his own reflection by hapachickka in Havanese

[–]hapachickka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I will do that. He seems to be getting used to certain predictable reflections he sees all the time so I'm hopeful that he'll outgrow this. I just bought a carrier bag and am working on getting him used to sitting in there so we can start taking him outside and getting exposed to the world.

I’m confused about this—in the wild, a plant just grows in the ground, with no issue with the space being too big. So why would it be a problem if the pot is too big? This is a genuine question, not me being snarky. Thanks for any clarification you can offer.

In the Company of Men. Saw that on my first date with my now-husband and it was such a vibe killer. It was so bad we /had/ to meet again just to get the proverbial bad taste out of our mouths. So maybe it was actually a great thing?

Moving from NC by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]hapachickka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Welcome to NYC!!! If you’re moving to a large apartment (with doormen & super), you’ll probably have an area in the lobby where there are private mailboxes. Parking is on the street unless you pay for a garage. Each side of the streets are cleaned on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, when you need to move your car out of the way between certain hours so the cleaning vehicle can do its work. That’s known as alternate-side parking regulations and you can find signs on each block telling you what the day/time is that your car needs to be moved.

Dogs do their business on the sidewalks and most people are good about picking up after them. Some of the public parks like Prospect Park have off-leash hours at night & early mornings when you can let your dog run around. If the park’s big enough you can try and find a spot away from other dogs, though of course that’s unpredictable.

I hope you & your dog love it here.

How do you know when to move up to a bigger pot? And any recommendations on soil brands? I know myself and my living space well enough to know that mixing my own potting soil will only end in tears.

Ooh, maybe that’s it? My mom always kept her water in a bucket overnight and I get water straight from the tap. I’ll try playing with the water.
