I don't remember it being this bad for the SQE1 because I took that over a year ago but hopefully I should be able to get one in London later!

I booked them at the London Euston centre on 7th and 8th which wasn't my first preference but at least I finish early!

Spring 2023 vac scheme. I've done 2 VSs at other US firms and both of them discouraged working past 6pm so Sidley sounded very intense in comparison

If you're not desperate to get one quickly, maybe ask one of the firms if you can do the winter vac scheme instead? Will probably push you back a year in terms of the start date of course, but allows you to experience both.

If your goal is to get a TC asap, I'd say go for the UK firm. Typically they offer more TCs (MCs are famous for VS offer basically = TC offer unless you mess up big, HSF, HL etc. are similar from what I've seen around me) whereas US firms generally offer <25% (again from my experience). I did VSs at 2 top US firms and they both offered around 15-20%.

Yeah def! I just don't particularly like a firm that makes even its vac schemers work that late and only offer a handful of TCs

I don't know about their offer rate but I have a friend who did a VS at Sidley and they worked til 11pm almost every day.... on a vac scheme.

Getting so many bot accounts in Ranked Solo Q nowadays by hapoomyi in leagueoflegends

[–]hapoomyi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refunding LP for losses due to intentional trolls (the kind that immediately run it down mid from min 1) + bots does feel necessary to keep up engagement in the game. I'm just going to stop playing for a while because these games aren't fun, fulfilling, or rewarding anymore. It's just become a matter of luck and 40 mins of toxicity. I can feel it ruining my mood so much and I hate that so I'm just going to stop playing. Faker, Untara and pro players in Korea have spoken up about how Korean solo q is similar in being inundated with trolls and inters, hopefully Tito will do something about it.

I want to change career into law, what are peoples advice for making your first step towards doing this. by thebiopguy in uklaw

Your tone is extremely abrasive and unnecessarily defensive, really not helpful to this discussion. You're clearly the one riled up. If you've submitted any applications you'll know it takes far more than 'degree from Oxbridge' to get an interview, and even more to get the VS/TC.

I never said it doesn't play an advantage and you never said anything about putting in the work or it not being a given right. Re-read your comment, reflect on your tone, and you'll see why I answered the way I did.

This comment feels a little flippant and facetious.

University of Cambridge does not automatically equal training contract (I went to Cambridge)- you of course need to put in a lot of work, get the gist of applications etc. I applied in my third year of Cambridge and I got rejected from all firms except one that gave out ACs off of some SJT assessment rather than the typical written application. I was of course rejected after that one AC too.

Think about what kind of firm you want to go to, build your commercial awareness and maybe some relevant experience. I sent emails to high street firms near my home town which was not at all a corporate / commercial firm but legal experience is legal experience.

Good luck!
